I know that WE makes a M1911 that is good for WW2, but I also know their stuff is notorious for leaking gas badly (I have one of their pistols and it leaks so bad I can't use any of the mags). I'm looking for a airsoft METAL M1911A1, opinions on which of the few ones out there are good?

My WE 1911's a love/hate relationship. Its a great looking gun, but the mags leak terribly. I got mine when they first came out, and now I believed they've come out with several improved models. The best gun out there in terms of quality would be the Western Arms magna tech. 1911 imo. I've thought about getting one over the years, but I just cant justify paying that much for a pistol. My 1911 usually just sits in its holster and looks good, so I'm happy with it.

Yeah, metal's the killer. I love my magna tech though. Never had a problem with it. Do they make metal kits for them?

I have the high end WA's and I can't go back to other gun after that, they work in below frezing even with 134a.
unless you plan on troughing it after people the plastic will hold. and it feels like the real thing. I don't like using any other gas then 134a(something you have to with metal guns) so the WA is perfect or me

I just picked up one of the new model WE Tech 1911's. Its amazing, buy it I just saw one in a store and I agree other than a lack of markings, it's dead on (I love the fact that they also put that plastic orange cap on the barrel that comes off in less than a second with a pair of pliers!). But I personally know that some WE pistols leak gas like a sieve. Does the 1911 do better than their "race guns"? If so, I'll need to buy one, as I loved the mag design. I hate hi-cap "double stack" pistol mags as it's a royal pain to load them properly!

Yes, there are plenty of horror stories about the earlier versions leaking problems, but tons of positive reviews about he newer versions. When I plan on getting a replacement, it'll most likely be a new version WE.

p51, the link you posted has a space at the end and doesn't work. I just copy pasted and took the space out.
It looks like a decent gun, although I can't help you out with what maker it is. I've seen some of the new WE's in person, and for the price they're at you can't go wrong imo.

I have done a little sealing on my WE-Tech with gasket sealer, and no longer have a problem with gas leaking. I use green gas on it all the time, and it works perfectly. All you do is push out the two little pins on the bottom and with some force the fill assembly will come out then you just take High Pressure Gasket Sealer, and put a good amount all the way around it. Slide it back in wipe off access put in the pins and let it set for a good couple of hours. I have done this twice and this second time it has been perfect, in fact i find if i don't completely empty the mags the gas builds up after about a day and can cycle about half of a mag. -Cary -Cary
