Anybody know which would be a better choice? The Kar98? The Shoei gas MG42? The TOP MP40? Or the new electric MG42? Give me your opinions. Oh and where could I Find a cheap used electric MG42? I figured out how to make homemade upgrades to the gas MG42 to improve ROF and FPS, however I hate the hose and tank setup. The electric one looks cool, but I hate the "werr werr werr" sound of AEGs (which is why the only AEG I've owned and used in combat was the AK-47... a nice clapping sound). I need a weapon to start me off. I'm very experienced in combat, and have a vast knowledge in WWII and a great interest in the Axis forces, however I am low on the cash.

Low on cash and needing a German weapon is not a good combination. None of the options are cheap. You are not likely to find a used electric MG-42 in the near future as they haven't been out very long. I think the electric MG-42 is the most reliable and usefull of the options you mentioned but also the most expensive. I would start with the Tanaka Kar98. Top MP40 would be great if it was more dependable.

an GM should never be a fist weapon.. as they some time just die for no apparent reason, and it's not always useful. and the TOP mp40 doesn't really work, i would get the Kar89,
1. it works 2. most Germans used it so it would be realistic,
then get a sidearm, and THEN think about getting a MG..

yeah. I have been looking at the 98k for a while now. It seems like the best option. It was the primary weapon and it was most common on the battlefield.
Another option I was thinking of was to buy a non-firing model of a Gewehr 43 semi auto and outfit it with M14 internals. I love Gewehr 43s and I'm kind of bummed nobody makes an airsoft replica of it.

Shoei does. Gas operated. Only problem is the price....roughly $1600 USD.

I believe the Shoei G43 Airsoft is ' planned' but not available yet- Right now they make a 'model' or dummy gun- all the operation, no projectile. But I do believe thery are planning an Airsoft version of that and the MP40.....which will be tight I present the Shoei website for your drooling pleasure www.shoeiseisakusho.co.jp/-G

I don't know about that- I'm waiting on Professor Schmitty to convert his Hudson M1 Garand into an AEG- If it can be done, Schmitty can do it!

Guiness,
I saw what was once your Hudson M1 Garand in Schmittys Jeep last weekend (mounted in his dash rifle mount) and know it's only a matter of time before its a work of AEG airsoft art. There is no doubt he can and will. I can't wait to see it.

yes...-snif-... that was 'ol Betty...-snif- lol she shure is pretty huh? I know she went to a good home, someone that can get the most out of her, where here she just sat in my closet, alone and dejected I am not a skilled craftsman like Gefrieter Schmitty, or should I say Leftenant Schmitty of Her Majestys Guards? Anyway, as I said if anyone can, like we say in the south, can make that dog hunt, Schmitty can I miss 'ol Betty to be sure, but I really love the M1A1 Carbine that took her place ;D BTW, just picked up a Makinaw off eBay!! -G

With the wool collar or without? I think they make a nice change from the M-42s and M41s that are so common and are still quite affordable. Additionally they can be worn for any period and in any theater except perhaps the south pacific. What were you able to get it for if I may ask?

A GEWEHR 43 AIRSOFT GUN??!!!!! I would KILL for one of those! (not really, but anyway) If one of those ever came out you bet your heart-earned dollar that I would get one of those!(exept if it were spring ) But by the time I'm old enough to join they'll probably have an AEG version .
