Schmitty, I'm still feeding out of a TOP box mag right next to the gun (on the floor), you'll see that's there's actually less distance between gun and box than you might think, maybe 6" (see pic below). The pic shows the two lengths of coil joined by a sort if quick-disconnect coupling. There's a pushbutton on the mag, you hit it and wind, I sort of hear a pitch change in the gears once the coil is fully "charged" with BBs, and I'm not sure how many rounds the wind is for, but it seems to give you a good 10-15 second burst! You can then hit the button as you fire and keep the BBs flowing or just wind between bursts (which I thought was the easiest to do.) box mag to gun pic: IMA is out of the ammo box, Sportsman guide is backordered unit April, so I won't be able to try out the a box on the gun until then. I did pick up a cool packboard though, I just not sure how to get the ammo can, gun, and tripod on there just yet... Gordak, BataanScout is talking about a game in the town of Netcong, I don't think it's actually Nam-themed, though.

How much did you rebuild the internals?
It sounds like it got a lot more recoil and noise than other Escort based guns?

Mikkel,
The internals are unmodified stock MG42 internals, the gun is basically built around them. I have an MG42 as well, the recoil is basically the same. There is a bit of felt difference from firing a tripod mounted gun with spadegrips vs the lying prone and firing the MG42 from the shoulder.

It seems like you have added a few parts to the bolt?
From what i can see, it's a lot louder and has more recoil compared to the other MG42 video i have seen (AATV's), but that is mabye due to the fact that there is no "buffer" effect from the firers shoulder, and thus all the force from the bolt is slammed directly against the gun itself? Very impressive result!
Does it seem to last fine?

Mikkel,
Yes, the charging handle is mounted to an aluminium block that's mounted to the bolt, so there might be a bit of added weight to blow back.
