Ok, my grandpa knows a marine that was from ww2. He was on the Indianapolis when they delivered the A-bomb to Saipan. On the way back it got sunk an enemy submarine. Out of the 38 marines on board only 9 survived. Most of the deaths were caused by shark attacks too... Sadly, only 5 of them are left today. My grandpa met up with him for coffee and interviewed him, and he was sharp as ever I will tell you that! He signed a book for me too, "in harms way", the story of the Indianapolis and how it sunk. This is one piece of unforgettable history that will follow through me forever. "A bit of history from someone who was there" Signed Melvin C. Jacob, U.M.S.C. 2/23/06 he was a PFC. I will post the interview maybe tomorrow, it's really long. www.ussindianapolisinharmsway.com/crew.htm Link to crew info, his name is on the marine detachment section. I also have a book signed by the pilot of the memphis belle.
