I think you need to take a better look in this forum as well as other forums from the PNW and you'll realize there is a great WWII community up here with awesome events .

I think you need to take a better look in this forum as well as other forums from the PNW and you'll realize there is a great WWII community up here with awesome events . i dont disagree about the amount of people wanting to do it. what i have been seeing is the amount of people not willing to spend the money because of the state of Oregon's economy and high unemployment rate though the good guys at the airsoft pacific forums have been getting the ball rolling but the conversion from modern to WWII has been and will be quite a struggle. i am not talking about once or twice a year games i mean regular WWII skirmishes. Thanks for the input though i'm glad people find the time to reply so quickly ;D

If there was more interest in WWII games then people would organize more regular games , but the little know it all modcom kids don't want to spend 2 days living and fighting like WWII soldiers did , or like modern soldiers do today , they are not dedicated enough to do that , sure they don't mind spending tons of mommy and daddies money getting modern uniforms , vests and weapons to do modern impressions ,but when it comes time to actually going out there to play , they just want to get out of their cars , spend some time talking about the new gadget they got for their M4 and then going out like a bunch of geese making tons of noise and shooting tons of BBs out of their high cap magazines at each other and then getting back in their cars so they can go have some fast food and go home to log to their forum and talk about how much better they are than the other teams.
So basically you'll be lucky to see more than a couple of WWII themed events up here when all the focus is on the modern tacticool games that only last a couple of hours.

Well said Adler. There's a lot of different factors that come into play for increased WW2 events. First off you need mature enthusiasts who can bring regular access to land and who possess the organizational ability to pull these things off. Then you need a consistent core group of players modeling opposing forces and who invest in impressions and weapons. Lastly, you need commitment and dependability from those same players. If you look at the groups that have succeeded they possess those things. I've noticed that many young players come and go. Their interests change so quickly at that age. They're great for the games as the real soldiers were young but a lot of times, they simply don't last. Building your group up with people who are 25, even 30 plus is usually smarter. There are exceptions, don't get me wrong. Events are a lot of work and they aren't going to occur every weekend. When you get the chance to attend the few that are out there you should pull away from the computer, pack your gear and go breathe some fresh air. Maybe event organizers would have less last minute cancellations then and maybe, just maybe, hold more events.

Great minds think alike. Truthfully I haven't spoken with EJ2 at all about this post but also liked Adler's comments and was on the verge of responding pretty much the way EJ2 did, but then chickened out. The fact is Adler69 and EJ2 make all the points I wanted to make but I'm just jumping on the bandwagon and feel the only thing to add is that the generational differences are at play here and it is our generation that is to be blamed as much as anyone since generally speaking we were raising the group we are criticizing. Modern gadgets play a large roll too. Can't stop progress I guess.

Welcome Devil Dog , you'll find a few Marines in here , including a very nice Gunnery Sergeant who will keep you in shape like only a Gunny knows how. thank you for the welcome, ive been playing modern airsoft for a long while, but have always been interested in ww2 and how life would have been like during that war. I know what modern life in war is like from serving in combat operations over seas. I'm here to make friends with guys whom share the same interest and hobbies as I. Semper Fi

Bill aka nambulmg
Nice to have found this forum. I'm retired military and have been collecting WW2 militaria since my grandad gave me an M1903 Springfield when I was 12. I literally have collected real steel guns all of my life and any and all forms of military gear primarily WW2. I got into airsoft about a year ago primarily because of my youngest son & now I am hooked. We have lots of airsoft guns with my personal favorites being our Viva M1919A4, Cybergun MP-44, and SRC MP-40. Have plenty of modern stuff but the WW2 stuff are my favs. Did paintball back in the day when it was a form of war games in the service but didn't get into it in civilian life, just couldn't stand the way the guns looked.
