We've never tried that but I don't think anyone will be opposed to it In fact that sounds really cool. What part of the country are you in?

We are expermenting with tennis balls with bb's inside i'll let you know how it goes. Right now proximity rules seem to work out best.

Well take your time with the gear and talk to Capt Zak about some deals. It took me a little while but he had me a passable uniform in what seemed like no time. Also no one here is exactly picky about accuracy for the most part when someone is just getting started.

nerf is the best, we use nerf pocket vortex in my m79 grenade launcher here is the result (Movie) www.gordak.com/m79a.wmvyou can hit someone, and it would be ALOT less painfull than a tennis ball, you can buy the rounds in bulk at soulofthewarrior.com -Gordak

Tennis balls are not made for direct fire. A mortar is not something you pick up and aim at someone. At least in our group you don't If you want to shoot directly at people you can use a sabot round with bb's in it but again prox rules work with small groups. I have shot a volunteer at say 20-25 feet with a nerf vortex using a gas shell and m203 launcher.....It hurt them bad like kidney punch bad he couldn't talk for a few seconds. No permanent damage but we wanted to verify what it would do at close range. So I wouldn't use vortex or tennisballs as direct fire, thats just my opinion though.

Mosscart grenades slid into thin ABS tubing and then capped with a short section of 2" PVS pipe (maybe 1 1/2 foot) makes an impressive mortar round. Slip a Nerf howler into the tube flush against the Mosscart grenade. Several of these rounds can be preassembled. I put fins on the round (for looks and so it would slide nicely in the mortar) I flared the upper portion so it would look like a mortar round. When ready to fire, drop the round into your mortar. I use a 3 foot long ABS 4 inch tube and gravity forces the mosscart shell against a firing pin about 1 1/2 feet in from the muzzle and wooshhhh! Your round flys out . Set it up so the round only drops a little ways into your tube with about 1" protruding so you can lift out the shell prior to dropping in your next one. The firing looks right and the range is quite good albeit inconsistent. 80 yards or so. After you use up your three rounds reloading is a bit involved. In a perfect world you could have a bunch more rounds pre-made. (The rounds are expensive but of course reusable) The howler nerf rounds are best as they whistle but they are getting less and less available and frankly once you fire the nerf rockets forget about trying to find them again. I recover about a third of them.
