What size is the hose/clamp supposed to be? And does this method actually put the liquid into your magazine or does it turn into gas sometime in the middle?

You want liquid in the mag. I had seen a rig with a clear poly line reinforced with fiberous strans. You will see this type of line used in CO2 setups for soda vending machines.
If you go to a hardware store ask for a higher pressure line in the plumbing section. You will only need one foot with a couple of hose clamps the same outside diameter as the hose.
(If I locate the specific name of this type of line I will post it...)
However the diameter of the hose is relative to the original hose that is purchased with the valve assembly that comes with the A/C recharge kit.
The clear hose is nice because you can see the liquid come from the can to the filler nozzel. You turn the can upside down and watch the liquid in the line.
Again do not buy a recharge kit with a Stop-a-leak or Oil of any kind. It will state this on the side of the package.
