Ok. Here's the deal. A buddy of mine is trying to acquire a Marushin 6mm Carbine for an M733 to get into the whole WWII airsofting thing. The only problem with this carbine is the bolt is broken in half. It was JB welded together but that broke. Is there any place he can get a replacement part for it OR any way he can get it fixed? He's got a hell of a deal sitting on his hands here but the only problem is the bolt is busted.
Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance folks!

I repaired a broken carbine bolt for 2nd bat once. It was pretty hard because the broken piece (the bolt handle) was missing so I had to make one. JB weld alone would be no where near strong enough. The solution is to reinforce the broken area using metal pins. Finding parts for the older 6mm will be very difficult. It can definetly be repaired though.

OK - Im the guy napalm posted for - I got registered and such so here goes.
I can acquire this rifle in a trade - but I dont want to go through with it unless its going to be worth it. If its going to cost a good bit of money to fix, then I am not sure that I want to go through with it. How much money might I be looking at spending, and where can I get the work done? Thanks!

Well, typically this is the kind of repair you could try yourself. If you post pictures I can try and advise you. Everything is fixable. Keep in mind that a broken 6mm carbine is not very valuable so don't do it unless it's a good deal. The 6mm mags are notoriously leaky and the 6mm has a lot of plastic that became metal on the 8mm version, I would still rather have a 6mm myself though.

schmitty, it's the actual bolt cover that's broken in two. jdog showed me pictures of it and it looks like it was once JBwelded together but its once again broken. Could that part actually be machined out of a chunk of metal? We've got a guy sorta locally that is really good at it (he's made a working 60mm mortar and multiple commando mortars as well as a shell of a .50 cal) and I'm sure he'd help out if we knew it could be done.

By bolt cover do you mean the part that has the cocking handle on it? Yes a new one could be machined (that would take a bit of time and/or money though). Or if you have all the pieces it could be repaired. Can you post the pics you saw?

I'll talk to Jdog tonight and have him post them up here. Having never looked at a Carbine closely (fired my friends though) I couldn't tell ya.
