They made a new batch of MP44's?
I think we should have a news section to either the forum or the webpage, where we can go to get news...... and.... news.
Even the rumor news.

My Untersturmführer have done the same thing, a few months back. It is truly a pain to do, and the quality of Shoeis gun is not up to the amount of punishment from blanks.
The triggerassembly is getting "funny", the rifle itself, is showing wear.
Who is this englishman? I would like to come in contact with him. Mabye he have improved several parts, so it will last?

Yeah, they are truely crazy. I've also hear of people converting a Marushin Kar98 to blank. Too sketchy for my tastes.

looks like they put a reall bolt in.. ?? any more info on this anywhere? Shoei also made a cap fire version, and a non firing exact replica. I garuntee thats not an airsoft one. -Gordak

well what do we know form the available information?- 1, Definately too much noise to be PFC, so certainly blank. 2, The body and frame would have to be able to withstand the same energy and heat that a real-steel would to shoot real blanks yes? so Gordak- Your escort MP44, the body isn't zinc is it? 3, If in fact this is a Shoei MP44 'converted' then we can surmise that they make the bodies out of something stronger than zinc, which could withstand a PFC cap but certainly not a real gunpowder blank. 4, And if 3 is true, then they are taking chances with Japanese Sword and Firearms laws, which I would be very surprised about. I could see them making the bodies out of something other than zinc, but like aluminum- nothing that would hold up to prolonged blank-fire heat and stress. I'm not sure where this movie originated from (I know the reenactor link Krupp gave us, but is it verified that they made it?) but if I was going to guess- I'd say its a reenactor shooting blanks in his real MP44. Plus watch again- the very last two shots from the gun are full auto- he doesn't pull the trigger twice there. But it would be cool if this was obtainable by us mear mortals -G

Oh don't get me wrong Krupp- I don't doubt your veracity or that you were informed that this was a converted gun- I'm just saying that I personally doubt it based on the 'evidence' is all ;D Looks like a real gun to me- that's all I'm saying.

My Untersturmführer have done the same thing. He used SHoeis cap fire gun, as the base. He had to make quite a few parts himself. And the gun is till not looking like its going to last for a looong time. Bad quality metal used by Shoei

well, unfortunately or fortunately depending on your perspective, Japanese law is pretty specific on how mfg's can build toy guns so as not to EVER be converted into real guns- So Shoei is limited to the types of metal they can use in their manufacture process, e.g. they would be prohibited from using the types of billet aluminum used in the "80%" recievers similar to Philadelphia Ordnance and others produce because with some machining, those can in fact be made into 'live ammunition' firing weapons- that is specifically against the Japanese Swords and Firearms statutes. Long story short- I would really be surprised if someone would spend upwards of $1800 on a Shoei modelgun or PFC gun to trash it using real ammo based blanks. But I suppose theres a sucker born every minute and some folks have more money than sense -G

well real guns are ileagal in the UK, so people are pretty desparate for blank fire.
In think I will confirm, Is it is NOT a real 44. On a real 44 the shells fly like 30 or 40 feet.
also, the gun looks like a shoei -Gordak

ok then- I stand corrected- if someone knows their Shoei's it'd be Gordak! Surprising all the same- as mikkel says, probably greatly shortening the life expectancy.....but on the other hand so is driving fast and that doesn't keep us from doing it does it? Helmets off to 'em! -G

I think its a question of reenforcing all the stress-parts. The same guy from my unit that made the stg44, also converted a MGC MP40, and this one actually will withstand all the punishment. But it took him endless hours of work and testing. the entire inner part is completely reworked. Corrently, he's trying to reenforce all the stress-parts on his StG44 also.

I would guess there would be two issues- Stress, and heat. The stress from the bolt blowing back and forth under the pressure of the blank explosion, and the heat generated by the explosion itself. I would be most concerned about the heat generated and its effects on the metal, i.e. warping, melting, altering, breaking down etc. Obviously the bolt and carrier are designed to move back and forth (if it was a gas gun conversion and not a modelgun) with the movement of the Airsoft gun or PFC cap gun for that matter- so I would imagine that Shoei builds them for some level of durability and strength. The question in my mind would be are the metals used in the gun up to the increased heat generated by the explosion of actual blank rounds?

just to add, the reason airsoft is getting banned in england, is the government claims "people are converting airsoft guns into real guns"...

I seriously doubt this gun would be able to fire a live round. Blanks are nowhere near as powerfull as live ammunition. Also the barrel inside this one, is likely just a holow tube, you can even see the gas venting right after the handguard. Even if he got his hands on a useful barrel, and got it installed correctly. The energy from the live round, would surely split his reciver at the pressure-point.
In England they also argues against a complete weapon ban, with the fact that a stengun can be made with suprisingly simple tools and little skill. My grandfather made them for the resistance here, and he wasn't a trained machinist.

"you can even see the gas venting right after the handguard."
yes, thats the gas vents, one on each side of the top of the gas cylinder. Thats how it works in real life too.
The more stress the blank causes all depends on the size of the opening on the blank adapter. Sustained fire should cause his gun to melt in his hands.
This reminds me of another trick, where you hot load pfc cap shells, I used to do it with my uzi, if u just pore gun powder in the shells, it can get pretty fantastic. still not as loud as it sounds in that movie.
On that 44, its clear there the gas system is functioning Identically to a real one. which means its not pfc caps.
I think the Brit government agrees the gun wouldnt last long enough to go thru a single magazine, but you only need one or 2 rounds to kill someone.

It's the entire gaspreassure thats venting from the handguard. My unit commander have done exactly the same thing with his, in order to avoid any trouble with the police. There simply are missing a piece of the barrel under the handguard. It is far from impossible to convert a modelgun, the hard part is to get them to last. I have sent the man an email, so we hopefully can get this cleared up completely Btw. If anyone have a MGC Mp40 for sale, im interested

It's most likely the Shoei PFC version.
My untersturmführer have just finished his conversion of the Shoei PFC MP44, and it's even louder than the one in the video(!) it's a real work of art, he had the recreate the entire bolt, based on drawings. He have had the airsoft (gas) version, but said that it's missing a few details inside, that would make the blank conversion possible. Unless you wan't to spend many hours extra to do it (and he used quite some time already)
