Just recently i bought a Yugo M53 sling which is supposed to be the same as the German made MG42 sling to attach to my Shoei MG42. Problem is at the pistol grip end of things the sling catch does not clip into place because it seems like the pin is just a bit to short has anyone got any way around this? The only reason i bought an MG42 sling was because one i assumed the gun could cope with it because it is a well constructed gun in airsoft terms and two ive seen loads of pics in which people have attached a sling.
Craig.
ps Ill post some pics later today, this might just be one of these cases where i am doing this all wrong.

A quick solution to a permant problem at least untill i buy another proper 42 sling. I just used a bit of very strong sailing cord instead of trying to make the pin fit because it wont unless i start grinding away parts of the pistol grip. Craig.

Here is a pic of a real mg34/42 sling. The distance between the sides of the clip is 3/4" when it is closed. I tried it on my Echigoya/Ultima Mg42 and it fits perfect. It is based on a Shoei Mg42 but the pistol grip houses the gears and motor so may be different. I would suggest that you modify your sling to make it fit. remove the pin and replace it with a longer one or use a nut and screw. Hope this helps. Schmitty

Its ok mate i didnt really expect anyone to have a long term solution anyway because i dont think there is much i can do with the pin unless i remove some of the metal on the 42. I measured the distance between the sides of the clip and the Yugo sling is smaller by about 2mm for some reason, i guess i will have to buy a real MG42 sling i should have bought one in the first place anyway . Thank you!
