I finished the ammo belt extension cord for the M1919A6 today. Basically, The gun can run on an internal small battery pack or you can connect the ammo belt and put a huge battery in the ammo box. The cartridge closest to the gun has two pins in it that fit in holes in the left side plates feed tray. When the top cover is closed it prevents the belt from falling out. I drilled holes through each spent shell to run the wires through (what a pain). I like the realism of having to open the top cover and connect or disconnect it if you move the gun. schmitty

Wow, That's a great set up. I can imagine how much time and work even a seemingly simple detail like that is. Helps people appreciate the effort custom guns require. Very cleverly done. (As always!) One minor detail I'm almost reluctant to bring up is that during WW2 the 30 cal was loaded using cloth belts. I don't think metal links were used during the war?
At Carentan you realize you will probably end up on the receiving end of your own creation! How ironic is that? I covet it heartily, almost sinfully! I will probably require absolution in confession for the thoughts I have about it.

it is awesome!!!! I gues you no longer plan to sell it I think disintagrating belts were arounf by the time the a6 made it into combat, at the very end of the war. (dont quote me, cause i reallt have little knowlege) -Gordak

Thanks, I am aware there is some debate over the use of metal belts during WWII but I'm quite sure they where in use by the end of the war. There is one in SPR, not that that proves anything but it helps I will still sell or trade the .30 cal. But I probably should wait until after our Carentan game. I know people are expecting me to bring it. Also would like it to go through a trial by fire. And yes I will be on the receiving end of it. Schmitty

I should have four or five AEG garands at the game and of course the AEG greaser I got from you. Incidently the Grease gun mags I ordered came in and so did the the low cap Thompson mags I'm going to use for the guts.
The Carentan game should be a showcase for cool guns. Hows the PAK-40 coming? I hear you decided against an 88!

Hmm..... Helmutt said HE was going to build an 88. I suggested he build something smaller and easier with wheels like a Pak-36 or 40 and that I could help. I hope he doesn't think I'm building the whole thing? Maybe the 3 of us could get together one day and knock something together?

I think Helmutt discovered the huge thing when he started to think about building one. I liked the idea that there were no wheels and it could be set up in a fortified position. I was okay with a 3/4 scale but Schmitty discouraged it. Good to have a demanding perfectionist in the group. The result is the discussion is now a Pak 40 or something like that. I'd be up for a get together construction couple of days.

I didn't mean to discourage the 3/4 scale 88 idea, Hell I'm gratefull for anbody that does anything to enhance our games, I just thought a full scale Pak 36 or 40 would be easier to build and move around and would be....... well......... full scale!!!! (look better in pictures etc...)

I built this guy once...can't use it anymore, because of our bylaws stating anything with presurized air must be made out of metal *mostly because if your puncture PVC while presurized with 60PSI, it becomes a schrapnel bomb....* But it could launch a potato about 1/4 mile...but we used it to launch water ballons.

GREAT JOB SCHMITTY! Have I told you this week that I hate you? ;D
I have a cloth .30 ammo belt that I bought for a display and never used. Let me know if you'd be interested.

Thanks for the offer Capt. Zak but I'm fine with the metal belt. I picked it on purpose so I don't have to have the tab coming out the right side (like a cloth belt). Nice piece of artillery Hellrazor.
Hellmutt and I spent all day yesterday building a mock Pak-40 for our upcoming Carentan game. I'll post a pic once we get it painted.

You could conceivably use the insert shells for the 90mm recoiless rifle my son created. They use a CO2 cartridge, ball valve and shoot either a Nerf football or a flechette round of several hundred BBs all at one time. Range for the Nerf football is about 135 yards. They could be inserted into the breech, launched and replaced with another round. He has the stuff to make probably 6 rounds. The loading for the 90 is a simple slide and twist process. At Galant Saber the Marine element knocked out an Ambulance with it if you recall.
