Feel free to laugh at me. I was laughing at myself all the way to the medicine cabinet.
Just got my Air system filled for the first time last night, and tried hooking it all up to my MG42.
First, I attached my LPR, Dialed it all the way out as instructed By Palmer's for 0 pressure setting, Hooked up my QD, Plugged it into the Gun and turned on the air.
:oAfter regaining consciousness, the "dumb ass armature" alarm (or was it just the ringing in My ears?) began to sound in my head, and I quickly went to work applying the pressure dressing to my chest after pulling out all the shrapnel. Fortunately, I Didn't need to mop up much blood, as my clothing managed to soak it all up.
Now of course, it wasn't nearly as bad as Ive made it out to be. I was mostly just making light of what actually happened to me.
Seems I put the LPR on the tank wrong, ( the directions weren't very detailed) so instead of 0-PSI Going into the gun, it got the entire 4500 that was in the tank. The 42 itself is basically unharmed. Because the little plastic Macro connector on the pistol grip gave up the ghost before any damage could be done to the weapons internals. aside from the very real piece of plastic shrapnel that I had to dig out of my rib cage with a set of tweezers and a 5th of Whiskey. Of course, I quickly figured out what I did wrong, fixed the set up, and at least my STG 44 is un-harmed. I fired it into a card board BB trap last night for the first time, and almost passed out from Ecstasy.
Now, I Actually have experience with HP systems. although I am a bit rusty. (its ben 8 years sense Ive messed with one) And I know there may be a few guys who have never used one before, that have just gotten there stg 44s. Please use My Misfortune as an example, and be careful. Don't be like me, and 90% of the guys out there, and say, "I'm a Guy, I know what I am doing, get that Instruction manual away from me!" In fact, don't do anything until you have someone who knows what they are doing show you the right way to do it. Because these things can be dangerous. and that piece of shrapnel was only 12 inches away from my Eyeball.
