Ok, I decided to go for it. I already got the MP40 on the way. Is there any tips you experts can give me before I start working on putting the PGC gearbox in a top MP40?

it's pretty straightforward except for the battery pack. I elected to use a li-poly battery rather than do the grinding and split the nicad into two as the instructions suggest.

thanks schmitty! Oh I noticed WGC has two diffrent gearbox sets one has a 130 spring and the other a 100 what do you suggest? (I am thinking 100 spring). And what size battery should I use 8.4 or 9.6? I want to go with an 8.4 for more realistic ROF. and finaly what other parts do I need to buy? I heard somthing about the barrle it takes being to long or somthing?

stick to the 100 spring i tryed the stock marui spring and it was somehow crap, it never ran properly (i dont know why) it runs better with the m100, you can change the spring in about 20 seconds, so you could play around to find out what is best as for battery, dont waste your time pissing around trying to grind the hell out of the gun (not worth it ) go the schmitty way with the li-poly or as i did, intallect 1200 mah mini batts, but dont think this gun is in par with the TM Thompson, cause it AINT ooops! ment to say, the hop is a bit crap aswell

Use a PDI spring I really perfer them to systema they Give you the sam FPS with less force on your mechbox. They compress easier than the equivilent Systema spring.

The PDI springs tend to loose a little power over a few months. Get a guarder.

What would you say a Mp40 is on par with after it has a PGC gearbox? I mean I can understand it not being like a Thompson, the Thompson is ridiculosly awsome. My stock Thompson was out shooting an upgraded CA M4 at our last game for God sakes!

I guess what I'm saying is, is all the trouble and the money worth it with the end result?

I think, Use the top till it explodes, and then get the pgc,
or,
get a broken top for cheap and put the pgc in it,
either way if you want an mp40 that can skirmish (more than few games), you need the pgc box. I just caution to try to keep the fps down, so the m1 garand folks, have a chance.

Mosy guys want to upgrade these to sniper status. They should be short ranged and not very accurate. So basically, a straight out of the box TOP MP40. LOL

If you want a mp40 that will work 100% go for the PGC mechbox conversion as the other guys say, its for close range fighting like most people, when the thought of this PGC box came out "we" all thought "Great a gun thats in par with the Thompson" I'm just letting you know that its NOT, i spent the money getting it done as i WANTED a working mp40.......... ohh and i like spending money lol i had no choice to go for this mechbox as the old one (bellows) burst after 10 mags
