looking back it doesn't seen nearly as hard as while I was doing it. but it did take me a solid 8 hours to do. Things to look out for. Trigger is held by the 2 mech box halves, the gun has a hair trigger so try to save the electric saftey when rewireing the gun. an 8.4 volt standard mini fits and because of the bearings, has an excellent rate of fire. once its done, its heavenly I used a stock spring, and it shoots plenty hard. -Gordak

It's definately beautiful! The thing is demonic, I'm afraid of it. The BB's were shattering on impact.

So does it make the MP40 a dream? ;D
Should I take the plunge and do the mod to mine?

It's definetly worth it. It makes the MP40 actually a very useable and reliable piece. There is actually a place to add another spring to stiffen the trigger, otherwise it is very light. I have done 2 of these PGC conversions now and they both required a lot of shimming, I would reccomend buying a pack of shims along with the gearbox kit.

yeah the shimming is a bit tricky, its not something for an ammature to do. again, yes way worth it. Zak, yes WAY worth it. you should do it, so don't sell that aug box to me.... oh wait to late -Gordak

Hey,
Just had mine done, can't say I did it all by myself, had a lot of help. Just wondering though has anyone used the M130 spring with this new PGC gearbox, if so does it have a detrimental straining effect on the gears, as I'd like to upgrage the spring to increase the fps. bit scared though as I'd hate to break this thing again.

I heartily recommend you leave it stock. It's going to be plenty powerful enough with a stock spring to simulate a sub machine gun. Heavier springs effect everything else and reduce your long term durability and hence your reliability. It's obvious physics really. Heavier spring = greater stress. The added range of an upgraded spring is marginal. My advice is leave it stock especially if you're not up to the task of personally doing the rebuilds that will be inevitable.

I would advise using a PDI spring to get it in the 300-330 range and leave it alone.

Again on this board we don't advise upgrading beyond the stock spring for accurate ww2 airsoft battles. As you would end up sniping guys with my garands and carbines.
the other thing with the mp40, is the battery compartment is so small, a powerful spring will severly limit how long your battery will last.
WHat Kind of battery do you use in your pgc mp40 AADan?

AAD does not have a pgc MP40, but a stock MP40 wich I'm geting in a few days.
I think what he's trying to say is that PDI makes the best springs. Wich I agree with that.

I like encouraging an effort to effect power rates in sync with the weapons themselves to promote some level (however minimal) toward relative performance for each gun type. I agree that Long rifles should be allowed greater upgrades and pistol cartridge rounds (sub machine guns) kept stock. A guy with a bolt action rifle or a Garand should have some upside to the trade off their bulk and length restricts. Mgs allowed box magazines when others are required semi or limited to low caps. etc.

Upgrades on AEGs dont give you that much more range. Maybe 10 feet more.
But I see what your saying.

Agreed that the effect on range is no where near as great as most people would guess. Typicallyt more then 10 feet (but not much more!) but there is a good deal better brush penetration up close and they get to the close in targets alot quicker.
