Hey guys, i just wanted to ask if it is possible to convert the Marushin Mauser 98k from 8mm to 6mm. An idea i had was to fit the shells with 6mm (by adding a few layers of aluminum or what-not inside) and then adding a 6mm barrel. This is just something that spontaneously popped into my head, i am not using any realism what so ever. So please any one do you think this is possible and if so, how? thanks.

well its just the shell ejecting factor that i have grown to love so much. i know the gun itself was crappy but i mean running around with a stripper clip of cartridges and then shoving them down the breach was just so fun and the ejection of the shells was just amazing. i didnt like the fact that the gun was 8mm though because i couldn't really use it anywhere as per US rule (in all honesty i want to give it a try) and unless i can make a real steel k98k shell-ejecting-airsoft like the marushin then i really would like a 6mm shell ejecting marushin. i know, im weird. anyways thanks again.

Who won't let you use 8mm? Especially one that shoots so weakly? Personal taste is personal taste you don't have to apologize.

Especially one that shoots so weakly? My Marushin shoots close to 500 with Propane in warm weather.

Do ya think you could modify Reall Steel shells to hold the ammo, if so than you wouldnt have to worry about losing the shells, just go and buy a new box of shell casings (some $ is still invloved but not as much as getting the Marushin shells)

Just get the old marushin that uses 6mm bbs i cant find it anywhere, not even the 8mm air cocking or gas one! its like, gone off the face of the earth... TommyGunnerits worth a try, the shells are dead close to the real ammunition, id have to remove the primers, gunpowder, and of course the bullet itself and with a little work an 8mm (or maybe even 6mm?) BB should be able to fit in it. Only problem is i dont know if the back part of the bullet is the same as the marushin shells and ill have to put my own o-rings.

Just buy 8mm brass. No bullet, no primer, no powder. A bag of 100 is about $15.00 or $20.00.

I have the old Marushin 6mm spring K98. It shoots pretty good but only about 320 fps. Like many others I always thought the shell ejecting aspect kept it from being very useable in games. I bought it mainly for backyard fun, even then the shells are easy to lose.

I think the guy who is claiming 500 FPS with a Marushin is either getting it confused with a Tanaka or doesn't have a functional chrono. I like the looks of the Marushin better then the Tanaka however.

The highest I've seen a marushin shoot was around 400 FPS. Thats like 550 FPS with .2 bbs...

My friend is telling me that i cannot change the barrel to fit 6mm length and that it is pretty much impossible to make an 8mm a 6mm. I know nothing of airsoft smithing and i kinda need some guidance (Schmitty?).

I think you should do it just to prove your friend wrong. Nothing is impossible. Schmitty
