Hello All,
I'm looking for some advice with regards to the refinishing of my TM Thompson. There's quite a few scratches on the metal receiver from the previous owner and was wondering what would be the best way to refinish??
Should I repaint or reblue and if so what would one use.
Thanks for all of your help.

I used Black Rustoleum on my kar98 parts that were scratched, they also have gun blue rustoleum. Check at your local hard ware store or Ace.

I agree with Tommygunner, Marui M1a1s look awesome all scratched and worn. Marui Did a really good job with the finish, and it just looks better and better as you use it.

Yep, cold blue.
Perma Blue about $5.00 can be purchased a WalMart.
1. Caution it is poisonous - do not get in cuts, eyes, or drink it. 2. Clean the area with rubbing alcohol, acetone or lacqour thinner. 3. Avoid touching any plastics with any cleaning solvents or gun-blue. 4. Do not use cotton balls to apply gun blue. SOME cotton balls have lanolin in them which inhibits the blue from properly penetrating the surface of the steel. 5. Wash your hands after you are done.
Saturate a gun cleaning patch(es) with gun blue, and rub it on the spot you wish to re-blue. Re-apply or keep rubbing to make darker. If area is unevenly colored or you want even darker finish. Rub area with fine steel wool and re-blue. When finished spray some silicone on a rag and wipe down the whole part.
To get a green-blue finish: Rub some cosmoline grease or 3-in-1 oil on after initial blueing and while part is still wet. Has an interesting green coloring effect. If you don't like it, clean area then rub area with fine steel wool and re-blue.
Gun blue DOES NOT WORK on: Galvanized metal, Alluminum, or Stainless-Steel. Galvanized metal can be blued after the coating has been stripped by sanding or wire-wheeled.
Hot-blueing & hardening steel is heating the part up until it's CHERRY-RED and then quenching the part in oil. Process is repeated 3-5 times. This hardens the steel and gives the part a beautiful blue finish.
I have never re-blued any airsoft gun. The gun screws and replacement screws yes. I drop them directly into the container of gun glue. Then pull them out with a telescoping magnet.
