Found this link on another forum - (Thanks Gandolf...) www.mechbox.com/site/mechbox/the-mechbox/how-the-mechbox-works.htmlIt shows the basic operation of how a gearbox works. I thought it would be helpfull for beginners... The animation is of a Version 2 Marui gearbox. The operation is the same for all AEG gearboxes. A motor powers three gears which reduce the speed and increase torque to compress a spring by a piston. When the piston is released it compresses air in a cylinder by an O-ring on the piston head which passes through the cylinder head and out through the nozzle. The nozzle moves back and forth loading bb's by a tappet plate. The tappet plate is operated by a lobe on the sector gear. When forward the nozzle is sealed inside of the hopup chamber with the opening on the rubber bucking. The hopup puts a backspin on the bb by pressing down with a rubber nub. The nub presses down on the top of the rubber bucking which stretches through a hole in the top of the inner barrel. The air then pushes the bb down and out the barrel. ///ed///
