Improving the WW2AA Experiance

As we all know WW2AA is taking off very quickly what with all these new WW2 weapons being made by manufactures to add to our growing collections, but it is aslo growing becuase of the garage tinkerers and all the custom jobs that are being done, many of them that turn out to be much more simple than originally anticipated.

I wanted to post up a thread dedicated to getting ideas flowing as to how we can improve the WW2AA experiance via building or modding our weapons, this thread will be used to post up and talk about various projects that everyone can benifit from. Also to help clear the boards of these what if threads and I have a good idea to build.... threads that simply clutter the boards becuase they are too small.

Topics can range from small experiance enhancments (like reall cap Thompson mags, or any reall cap mag mods) all the way to the big but not outlandish projects (like the AEG Garand and the upcomming 30cals)

I do ask that large outlandish not well thoguht out things that not everyone has the resources to attempt stay out of this thread. I hoe that this thread will help people think there ideas out until they are ready to begin them and post on there own about there projects.

A few starter topics that I think are worth exploring are:

Shortened Springer Rifle mags (to fit in cartritde belts)
15rnd M1 Carbine mags to work with the new M2 Carbine
Easy to reuse homemade Grenades (nothing that invloves it actually exploding please)

So lets get these ideas flowing whats something you have wanted but is not availble comerciall yet yo dont know how to go about it.

OK, I have a dirt cheap Stick Grenade set up. You take a wooden dowel and a swin noddle with a the hole through the middle. You cut the noddle to size paint it black and shove it on the end of the dowel. This being throwable so if you hit someone you don't knock them out. Cheap, not the best looking but gets the job done.

Short note to assure you that you're not being ignored. I think your idea is wonderful. The information that is flowing on this site is marvelous to behold. I think it might be better to set broader goals. It would appear most of you guys like to run around in the woods shooting at each other. If Killbucket, or someone like him, could come up with a reasonably priced MG42 and we can come up with a quick and dirty way to do K98s than you can do a real German assault with the riflemen supporting the MG, etc. Then the collectors like me can have new toys to admire. We're going to have to work on the grenades
My suggestion, a list of what is needed to increase reality (such as it is!)

That is true, I have a MP40, mags, luger w/holster, I've thought about getting repro grenades but $50 for it and if you hit someone with it, it would hurt them.

Its a cheap and dirty way, I'm working on making the head better, I need some way to make the paint stick better.

I made 3 remotely detonated mines/launchers about three years ago.
They discharge a gas grenade (M203) shell. Two were detonated by wire push-button. The third one I used a car alarm to remotely detonate it.
To add effect, I dumped an extra cup of dried peas down the barrel and then baking soda.
I use them once a year. It's a pain to go out in the field deploy them, leave a $40-$60 grenade in it, then go back out after them after the game day.

I made "mine" (get it ;D) out of wood. They can be made for under $35.

Not WW2 but the "exploding shell" effect is very cool...
(Once upon a time we almost made 30 of them. Then use a nail-board to detonate them for a video for the field.)

I think we need to define what we're doing here a little better. What I would like to see is a seperate heading for "projects". Just like "general" and "technical". Then you could have your sub headings like "grenades". I would also like to ban the "how much are you going to sell it for" postings, but that's wishful thinking. As I said on another post today there are too many creative people out there and we need a way to channel that creativity to everyone benefit.
On grenades. If they don't need to explode, a PVC pipe shoved into a piece of swim noodle and with a little bit of Krylon fusion you've got it. Making them explode it something else. Back around the turn of the century (I just had to say that) a lot of the California paintballers were doing pretty much what you guys are doing now and as I remember they were getting pretty creative. It might be worth looking into. For American "pineapple" grenades I'll have to look in the Easter egg section of K mart

@jagerdru: can you post a photo of your grenades??? I have not understand how you have done them... Maybe we can join our "minds" to build something that will "rock"!!!

I will like a lot to have a G43, and a Garand with interchangeable gearbox and barrel...
But for now I cannot start with those projects...
