The screws are crap. The screws are loose. The case has hammer marks (!?) all over it. Every plastic part looks like it was cast from regrind. The gears are potmetal. The trigger linkage is a coat hanger wire. The hopup is a one-shot.
I get it. We open up about every gun sold, anyway. Why NOT slap it together and put the matching price on it?
I confess to asking for broken guns at every shop I frequent. Feels about the same. The technical challenge now arrives in a brand new box, with accessories. At $129, I'm satisfied.

I got the mid week built gun I guess instead of the Friday or Monday version. Mine has worked fine with no modifications or repairs of any kind. The hop up is not the best but is not horrible and about fitting for an SMG. I have decided to run it like this till it explodes and I have to fix something. Sure I could open her up and change out that grease maybe replace a few weak parts here or there but lets see how long she lasts stock out of the box. I might in the future look at changing the hop up and barrel but for now will stick with what I have. I have been very pleased with the gun.

We should take your posting and make it the standard advice for noobs who ask, "How should I upgrade my gun?
Run the heck out of it, study the remains for upgrade suggestions.
I need my case intact for demos, otherwise I would have ripped right in to put in better gears and bushings. I may have a burly spring or two around here also...
For now I'll settle for better screws and lockwashers, and some strategically placed grease blobs though the gearbox holes..
I just upgraded a pile of AKMS clones. Gearbox work is punishment. If you have a good gearbox guy, treat him right, because what he does is frustrating torture.

I hear you. Just because I can and do tear into mechboxes doesn't mean I enjoy it...I avoid it when possible.

I'am really satisfied with it, I have changed the spring, and grease. I'm gonna re-shim it with a friend next week...
No hammer hits, loose screws yes anyway...

It occurs to me that the hammer marks on mine may BE shimming.
I have my Marui stocker piston out of my M733. It will be my backup in case the former medical waste inside mine fragments.
Very close to beginning the torture test of this box. I'm putting it stock into a sales demo gun. I'm ready for it to grenade with tools waiting.

I always tell myself that...it's never true. The indicted piston in there has me considering a trip to Norca Army/Navy.... And springs, Mic the one you want, then head over to McMaster-Carr. Diameter of wire, #of turns, free/compressed length. A spring is a spring. Nothing magic about the ones in the shiny packages. Bigger/Badder stuff than theirs is on the shelf waiting. -Not responsible for puked gearcases. But seriously, I do want to see MP40 carnage pics. When mine comes apart, I'll sketch up a maintenence dock that hopefully, will make reassembly a little less life-consuming.
Every time I orphan an MP40 Kit, I'm going to experiment my custom paint ideas on them. Seen enough FakeBake yet?
