Hello, My Bavarian WWI reenacting group is switching from live fire weapons to airsoft. We feel it will provide a more realistic feeling when going 'over the top' and ACTUALLY being sprayed at with projectiles. Hence my question....do you think it would be possible to use perhaps a Turkish barrel (since it's on line with that of a gew98) on a Marushin or Tanaka K98? Specifically the Marushin...shells will be easy to find in the trenches and the small portion of no man's land. It's not necessarily like WWII reenacting where we're out in the woods all over the place. Small cosmetic changes to the rifle such as the addition of 'roller coaster' sights will be easy, but the barrel extension is my main concern. We might end up shooting for late war so we could skip the barrel extention and use the G98 carbine if you guys determine it to be too difficult.
Looking forward to hearing any information...thanks.
Thomas

Er, I can't help you with the technical stuff, but I can say that you might not be happy with the results of buying Marushin's. They break quite easily.

Hmm my knowledge of this is fairly limited but I can tell you that with the Marushin it will be very difficult seeing as how it fires 8mm just like the real K98 meaning the outer diameter of the barrel is at least 10mm if not more and would require extensive widening of a realsteel barrel's bore. I presume with some minor bore widening you could extend the Tanaka with a real steel barrel and have success. Hope this helps some.
