What's a drop box?
A static target. It's a balloon inside a box suspended by string. When you shoot at the target and pop the balloon the box drops. Another version of a drop box involves sensors. (I'm working on it.)
The balloon version is easy to make.
Materials:
Balloons, large, round.
Cardboard box that the balloon fits into when inflated.
String.
How-To:
1. Cut 4 or more small circles in the box - one for each side.
2. With the lid open, flip the box upside down and cut one more circle in the center of the bottom of the box.
3. Blow up a balloon and tie a string to it.
4. Pull the string through the center hole in the bottom of the box.
5. Hang it up in a tree or off a stick tripod and shoot at it.
Box Notes:
The balloon should fit snug inside the box. The balloon should also be filled with air so that it is just about ready to burst. You can also add weight to the box - hang some rags off the bottom flaps.
The more weight you add to the box the easier it is to pop the balloon. Less air inside the balloon and it becomes harder to pop. The larger the holes are in the sides of the box the easier it is to drop it. The holes should be placed where the balloon makes contact with the box. You should be able to clearly see the rubber balloon inside the holes. You can paint/color number or label boxes.
Uses: (There are hundreds of uses)
Targets - Use at a target range. Design a gauntlet or hogans alley.
Assassination - You can also draw a face on the box and hang a shirt from under it (or a uniform). It would represent a static human target. Guarded by the opposing team at their base.
Bunkers - Hang the box over your MG team. Drop the box the MG team is elimnated.
Hostage - Eliminate the bad guy. Setup 3 or 4 boxes and only hit the center target. Hang the setup from a umbrella-rig so it spins in the wind or when shot at. Cut larger holes in the boxes that are hostages.
Sniper rifles and DM guns have an advantage because they can hit the drop box at a greater distance. Regular aeg's will have to be much closer to eliminate the target. How close? Depends on the bb weight and how good a shot you are. You can also hear a bb bounce off the balloon when it has been struck.
