Schmitty, I believe that you converted your Thompson stock so that it can detach. I would like to do the same to mine, but I have no idea how. I was wonder if you could post some pics of your Thompson stock detachment to help me? HANK

Problem is you would havbe to put the battery in a Drum mag and then you could only use the drum mag, or use a sling mounted battery which wouldnt work seeing as the sing has no where to attach to once the stock has been removed.

I thought about that Tommygunner but I not going to worry about it. I just want the stock to detach so I can put it in a small box or something. A violin case would be cool. Thats all I wanted to do with it.

TommyGunner What about a PEQ or a Ready Mag ? - Or one of those new EoTech battery boxes.......i smell a photoshop coming on The stock comes off with 2 screws, the only thing you might need to do is glue the metal piece which the smaller screw, screws into. Otherwise it comes off and rattles around.

Sorry for the slow response. The advice you have already recieved is correct. If your Thompson is an M1A1 then it should not have a detachable stock and if you only want to fit it in a case then best to just remove the screws each time as already suggested.
However if you have a M1928 (or older) Thompson and you want to go chicago gangster style (you mentioned the violin case). Then a drum mag and removable stock would be in order.
The stock I made uses the mechanism from the springer thompson moded to fit the wood stock. I added a metal rail to the bottom of the reciever for the stock to slide and lock on to.
But without the battery mod (my battery is in drum mag) I don't think it would be worth all the effort.
