I would absolutely kill for a Lee Enfield airsoft rifle. I have a AGM MP001 and was wondering wether it could be joined with a Lee Enfield stock etc?? I've never even attempted anything like this before so I'm a complete noob. I've seen a few airsoft Lee Enfield's out there but there are way out of my price range (£400+!). I can get hold of a Denix SMLE for £50. Could anyone help me out with this? I'd even be willing to pay for someone to do this for me.

It's about a weeks worth of work but quite doable. Do the math on the value of time and you'll see why they are as expensive as they are. The only way to save the money is do the labor yourself. It's really not that hard, just time consuming. Your MP001 is a good base rifle for the conversion and the Enfiled stock has more room to work with then many others (Mosin Nagant, Kar 98 and Springfield.)
Good luck

I'd be glad to take it on but a few things. You keep mentioning Pounds. If you are in the UK is the VCR bill not going to get in the way of getting it imported back into your country. Can you wait for the conversion I don't have room on my schedule till about xmas time. PM me for a conversion price but if you provide the parts I can make the conversion price reasonable I think. I would just enjoy having done it but my time is worth something. So far I have made a few Mausers and 1 Mosin Nagant M44 conversion comercially. I am currently swamped with orders for Mauser Vz24, K98's and Mosin Nagant 91/30's. If your interested email me at paintgames@hotmail.com or PM me here on this board.

If I was to send over to the US the VCR Bill shouldn't affect me. I'm registered at my local skirmish site here in the UK - www.close-action.co.uk/index.html. I just have to bring along a a form from the UKARA (United Kingdom Airsoft Retailers Association) website and get them date stamp it next time I go along. Like I said I would do it myself but I never attempted anything like this in my life. Maybe someone could do a step by step guide on how to do it. I'm sure that it would be a big help to everyone.

I think there are some fellows on the UK WW2 Forums that could help you out may even be local to your area even. You have quite a few handy chaps over there as far as I can see.

The expense and difficulty shipping the rifle bits back and forth would further add to the cost. Someoen should take this on as a spec rifle. Once quality pictures were taken of it and chrono results would probably sell like crazy.
I'd do one but I'm up to my eyeballs in Garand conversions and now a few Springfields, here and there.

There are a couple of guys on the ww2airsoft.org.uk that bought the Denix. I would agree with CharleyNovember that's your best place to ask for information etc.

Tobbe,
Welcome. I had one of my customers MP001s break a trigger. The gun fired as he cocked it. (Not cool) The good news is it's a fairly inexpensive fix. (Just replace the whole rifle!) I'm guessing that with a Enfield there should be plenty of room for the Mp001 or VSR copies and that the rilfe should marry up real nicely.

Just a word on the denix replicas, we use them as drill rifles in our reenacting group and have done several landings with them. The red finish on the gun runs when wet, very easily ruining you battledress that you payed a good chunk of change for.
You can remove it by washing the stock with watter and rubbing it with one of those green scratchy thingies used for washing dishes.
Also something you may not have known is that there is no inner barrel I am not sure how this would effect the makeup of the gun. But lower and upper stocks are just two pieces of wood. The butt stock is also separate from the rest of the stock making it pretty unstable. Also the band thingy that is supposed to look like it goes around the buttock and connect to the action is molded to the action making it very hard to salvage (but completely essentile(sp) because it connects the buttstock and lower stock together) and because the metal is incredibly soft and very fragile. So I would recommend you look at a Denix SMLE BEFORE you buy one so that you can see if it would be possible for you to build an airsoft SMLE using its parts.
As a side note: the ladder sight of the SMLE is molded and fixed.

Thats exactly whats happend to my mp001..Either it fires when cocked or the handle and tube snaps right back in to the reciver..Ive orderd the cheap fix, a new one :-)
Jacksparrow79
I thought of sticking the mp001 handle in one end of a piece of metall tubing,The denix in the other end (After cutting them in apropriate length) and then glue them togheter..

For the Springfields I grind down the hokey looking bolt till it presents a flat face and then shape what will now become my base into a circular shape. I take a small drawer ball and cut it in half. Inside the flat portion of the ball I drill some holes and insert some short metal pegs. I then drill matching small holes in the now reshaped existing MP001 bolt and attach it all with JB weld. Once dry and further sanded and shaped I paint it. It ends up looking remarkably good and so far seems to hold without any problems even after repeated field use.
I try to keep the bolt intact as much as possible as any major revisions are fraught with challenges. Glue, resin pastes and resins welds will only do so much and the bolt area is clearly a point of great stress.
