A TM Uzi. It is the only UZI that I know of. It would be cool if the chinese would make an uzi clone cause then I could make these with the motor already in. I just don't have the cash to lay out for the conversion bits plus a 250.00 uzi.

I think it looks wonderful. How do you plan to finish off the receiver group, bolt and charging handle?

Those will be built out of pvc/abs. Hand shaped initially but cast if I make more. The charging handle will be original cut to fit. The bolt/reciever will just be a cosmetic overlay that will cover the motor.

Hi Troy! Very beautiful project! What tool did you use to carve the wooden stock? Bye bye!

The stock was carved out with a dremel. To expedite future projects I got a spindle sander/drill press, that should allow me to make a stock very quickly.

what about the motor/mech from the MP7? would there be enough room for that in the stock?

No, the mp7 box won't fit. The AGM MP0 might, I haven't really looked at it yet. The Uzi barely fits and although you won't notice it unless you hold it up side by side my airsoft carbine is actually a skootch bigger.

The carbine is coming along nicely. Will post some pics soon. basic fitting is done and now I am working on the final internals.
The gearbox trigger assembly will not work for this project though as a major piece for the single shot operation needs removal to work. Oddly I ran into a similar problem with my M1 garand-but for a different reason (resulting in a full auto garand). Anyway-what is needed to make this whole thing come together is some sort of pulse switch. Anyone with electrical switch knowledge please help me out here. I have no idea what this kind of switch would be called so I can't find one as I do not know what to ask for. I am looking at MOSFET switches, but reading through the info am unclear as to wether they work in a pulse mode (allowing a burst of current then resetting itself until you pull the trigger again.) With this problem tackled I will have created an AEG carbine.
Thanks for any help

Glad to hear it's almost done. It looks fantastic. Will you be attending the Jump to Destiny game coming up? Any chance you'll have it done by then? Have you solved the mag and related issues?
I don't know exactly how to solve your semi-auto trigger problem but I understand exactly what you need. Mosfets are just on/off transistors that are used as an electronic (solid state) version of a mechanical relay allowing a small amount of current passing through the trigger switch to control a large amount passing through the motor. You would also need a sensor to tell the electronics when to stop the motor. This would usually be accomplished by a infrared sensor that detects that a bb has passed through the barrel as in a tracer unit. I believe some fancy AEG guns use this method to accomplish 3 shot burst modes.

scmitty, the mag issues are solved, but will require a hi-cap only. The trigger is the only and final hurdle. The trigger group on the uzi motor sticks up above where the bolt would be, hence the reason I have to find an alternate to a trigger group.
Not sure if I will make it to Jump to Destiny. 120.00 is a bit steep for me right now. If helmutt needs some help and is willing to trade work for pleasure I would be happy to help with the event and play a little.
I am sure I have seen a resetting switch somewhere but I just cannot remember what it is called.

(Not going to be jealous, not going to be jealous...ooops-I'm jealous)
That actually looks pretty good. Looking at the high back end I bet he is using an m14 gearbox. Initially I elected to not go with that 'cause of the high center where the bolt drops down (the thinest part of the gun where it is just under 2 inches from trigger to bolt top.) but looking at warrens it doesn't detract too much at all. Actually the more I look at it the more it is entirely acceptable. I guess when the first 10 plans don't work then it is time to change the expectations. Overall better to have an m1 that is 90% right than not have one at all. (although I won't buy one-cause mines already 3/4 of the way done!) The nice thing about an M14 gearox is that there will be room in the front for the battery so the stock can be solid and have the sling/oiler cutout.
Good eye click-Its always the marines that get in there first!!!
drawback is that the M14 won't allow an M1a1 for all you paratrooper fans out there. (sad face)
To update mine-I am currently about 500.00 into a boondoggle. The uzi motor crapped out. It just could not be modded enough to fit nicely (although if I go with warrens vision of a back end it would-and I just put it back in the uzi! damn)
I am waiting to see the scorpion motor and have heard rumors of the JLS beretta storm motor being very low profile. I am also working on finalizing designs for a gearbox made specifically for an M1 carbine. It is a modification of the uzi type 5. basically its in reverse with motor and gears up front just to the side of the barrel.

This project was first posted 14 months ago. This is by no means a complaint. It simply highlights how challenging custom efforts are and how difficult this particular project is. We are all anxious to receivce updates and looking forward to a final finished project. Continued good luck with it Troy and give us an update from time to time.
