Doubt it, and if its possible it doesn't seem worth it. Those SKS's are hunks of junk either way.

They are actually kind of cool for the money and sheer novelty. They cost $40.00 and as a throw back to the old days of airsoft use cartridges that you slip the BB into the tip of. They are spring powered and have to be cocked each time. They work awkwardly and don't shoot very hard but they are certainly different. The shells eject with the action. The magazine is more like a Type 59 with the long banana shape and the bayonet is likewise a spike bayonet instead of the folding blade. I bought a couple and removed the bayonet on one which I mounted on my AK as it was cheaper then a Gurader 70.00 bayonet and looked fine.
I had hoped to be able to hollow it out and build an AEG but discovered that like the real SKS stock it was just too small for any of my gear boxes. It definitely wouldn't be worth the effort of trying to somehow turn it into a M1 Carbine.
I used them as props at RECONDO school and for that they worked fine.
