As in a regular infantry squad? Highly doubtful.

I was just wondering because I have seen original officers medic helmets before.

medics can be different ranks, but they would not run a combat squad. the officers would be doctors at the feild hospital. -Gordak

Yes...you can recognize a medic officers helmet by the two holes cut in it so they can wear their helmets while using their stethescopes. ;D

How would one cut the helmet back in ww2? I doubt they had any of these cool drills.

speaking of gettin shot in the helmet....anyone else notice how when it gets hit it tends to ring in your ears!!!
I can't even imagine getting truly shot in the helmet *one of those miraculous shots that don't kill you*.

at modern games people like shooting at the ww2 guys cause of the ring sound the helmets make,
But when you shoot back at them, they scream "NO HEAD SHOTS!!! ARRRRGGHHH" and cry all the way back to the dead zone. Helmet = good idea in airsoft. -Gordak

YES YES!! Other people notice the evil loud helmet ping! I was beginning to think it was just me. Ya I love my helmet, especially in those "OH SCHEISSE!" moments where you know you're gonna get hit and you can just hunker down and seemingly hide inside the helmet and take the hit with no pain!

I agree helmet good/ no helmet bad. As for squad leaders. (Original post) Medics were drawn from the Battalion medical detachment and assigned to the companies and hence the platoons. As such there was a rank structure within the medical platoon going right up to the Battalion Surgeon who obviously was a Doctor and an officer. So there would be NCOs that were up at the battalion element. (A platoon sgt for example) The medics attached to the platoons would have Technical rank but no command authority. For example a seasoned medic might be an E-3, E-4 or maybe even an E-5 but his stripes would be "Tech" stripes not traditional NCO ranks like corporal or Sgt. I'm not sure if that clears this up or not.
