that would be an L shaped pin. the pin is made so theres the round horozontal part (the part you can see, and the rubberband attatches to) and then the vertical part is flat and attaches to the metal slide. it looks like this i just used welding rod to make it

From what I can see, the bolt is moved by the piston via the "L" shaped rod protruding into the slot he has cut in the side of the mechbox. Correct?

I dont think the coar hanger wire is strong enough, it will bend. Just find a small sturdy metal dowel, Id say 3-4mm. you will also have to play with getting the right length of the pin. If its too long it will catch up in the piston spring, if its too short it wont catch at all.
