Can an AGM mp-40 gearbox be upgraded easily with standard gearbox parts like spring guides, cylinder heads, bushings, springs, pistons etc from v3 gearboxes. Would an mp40 gearbox need these to use higher power springs?

ive got an all helical hi-speed gearset and a tb barrel for mine. and no i dont belive you would need anything for a high power spring. but i would use a metal piston with one because ive heard of plastic piston teeth getting broken with hp springs.

it's better to use plastic piston, so if your gears are stressed from the higher spring there are more possibility to get broken the piston (it's made of plastic, against steel gears...) and not the gears. Bye bye!

He was saying that he feels using a plastic piston is the better route as if there is a problem the stress breaks the plastic piston teeth instead of shearing off teeth on your gears. The idea is that you build a weak point into the design in a fairly in expensive area. in this case a piston cost less to replace then a set of gears. It is a sound idea.

Really, because its uses VerIII parts. Its just a moded VerIII with the motor going backwards. So if you really want to nitpick it would be a VerIII(b). (b) =backward facing motor gearbox that uses VerIII parts.

I have told several people this also. I just call it an MP40 V3 gearbox. Star249 gearboxes are also V3 (Gears, motor, tappet plate, cylinder head, cylinder etc.).
Because most people (techs) still think AK V3, AUG V3, Sig552 V3 or MP5k V3 gearbox. All of which have same internals but different trigger & wiring assemblies. Similar differences between Thompson V6 and a P90 V6. Same box but different motor cages and trigger assemblies.
