Becuase of the BAR project I have been working tirelessly on making a realistic blued steel finish and better looking parkarized finish for my airsoft guns. I have here a picture of a finished application of Blued steel paint I mixed up and applied to my old UHC Colt.45. My other colt with the Gun metal Finish and my blued colt. I used a custome blended blue paint and then added aluminum powder to the paint to give it a metalic luster. I may need to add more power? Tell me what you guys think. I want to get the ratios right so that I can blue my M1928 Thompson and BAR. As soon as I get the correct color I will write up a product and ratio list so that others may try their hand at this. I got all my products at a local art store, nothing fancy and anyone can get these items. TommGunner

Looks pretty good to me but maybe you could add a satin finish over the blue? On my RS blued guns (K98 and MNs), they have a bit of a sheen that reflects sunlight somewhat. Otherwise nice!

Looks good but what's so wrong with just the blueing alone and no other components added to the mix? I'd assume the QM wouldn't have had color-scanned perfectly blued weapons. But still I like it.

The paint I made looks like paint only and I have to add aluminumn powder to get the metalic luster to it. Thats why I have to add other components other wise t simply looks like I painted a gun blue. Also with getting the ratios right there is a certain average darkness or lightness to a blued finish that I want to replicate, obviously the gun would look dumb if I painted it a metalic baby blue.
Also I will try a satin finish on it tonight, thanks for the input.

I think if you used some rubbing compound and went over the paint job lightly you could end up with the sheen you're looking to get.

Love your work always, I do humbly submit that the technique I used for my M500 produces a pretty realistic facsimile of blued steel though. -Krylon black 'metallic protective enamel base -Krylon Deep blue final coat

Hey Guiness !! I got one for ya. I got a CYMA M1A1. It has like a flat black or matte ,which ever oneit is finish. I was wondering i'd like to put the same finish on it that you have on you trnchgun. I even thought about stamping it myself with the real trades too. I need all info on how to get that finish you have on your trenchgun. Its awsome! And do you think that stamping it myself could break the pot metal. Of course I wouldn stamp to hard but I never stamped pot metal before. So wahts you take on all this and where can I find a real wood stock kit for my new prized possesion? Thanks!
