I just found your sight and I am a huge WW2 buff, mainly in aircraft(work for Revell Monogram building models), But I have taken a liking to WW2 Ground battles, Especially in the pacific in early 1942-43 with the Marines.
I have just recently spent about $1,200, getting my gear together for an early USMC Thompson gunner. I have the Tokyo Marui M1A1 Thompson, two 3 cell Thompson Mag Bags, 5 60 rnd, and 1 420 rnd stick mags for the Thompson, a Reproduction USMC 1942 Colt.45 holster, a Western arms Colt.45, and a reproduction 1942 USMC uniform, with pistol belt.
I play airsoft with friends when I am not working but only 4 of us play and as you can imagine it gets boaring (especially when they al have modern millitary and swat gear). I heard that you were based in the chicago land area and I wanted to know were your next event was going to be held and when.
Also if you guys have any tips as to reanactment airsoft I would be pleased to hear them.
P.S. Sorry just saw the introduce yourself thread Guess I should have done this there.
Thanks

Welcome Tommyboy! er uh Tommygunner! (sorry, couldn't resist ;D)
You actually work for Revell ?? How cool is that! thats the job I always wanted as a kid! You should get them to send you over to Gordaks museum to study his new M36 Jackson to make kits from!
I'm sure many of us still build models, maybe you can give us the intel on what new cool things are coming out!!

Yeah I do work for Revell part time , As part of some payment ,A deal was worked out that I could build a few show room models for them. Right now I am to start working on part of there web site concerning the aircraft section, we are still hammering out all of the details as to what is going to be on it but I should be able to start working on it when summer starts for me. Cant wait. Hope fully I can move through the ranks and become a showroom builder for them perminently. Actuall I just got a call from them and it is possible that Ill be starting a 3 day a week summer internship therein a month Oh and I dont think I can give heads up on upcomeing products, but I guess if they never find out than its really not a problem right? Nice to meet you Tommygunner and by the way.... the pipes are calling... but in all seriousness, I hope you enjoy coming here and are encouraged to stay. Because of schedules (work; school; more work) we are holding off on the next event until June. At least that's what I've been told. On your impression it sounds like ur ahead of the game. Revell makes some good stuff. I just had to learn the hard way not to use lacquer thinner to remove mistakes in the paint. There is a very misshapen U-505 sitting on my mantle because of that learning experience.

Spitfire740- Im glad you guys could use some pacific Marines in your organization, I have noticed not too many Airsofters do Marines none the less early 1942 stly unifroms and equipment. Speaking of that I plan on converting my M1A1 to the earlier M1 version. Oh and by the way I noticed you live in Lisle, thats only about 35 minents from where I live in Yorkville.
Gordak- I am supposed to meet with them in afew weeks here and I really do think that custome built kit airsoft guns would be an area profitable enought to get into, so Ill put that up as a suggestion.
phantom12321- Thanks for the welcome I think that Im gong to like it here, its nice to see that there are at least some people interested in WW2 airsoft, and I am really looking forward to being able to participate.

Clearly we have a bias for WW2 weapons but it does seem to be a logical un tapped market within the market. It's especially light in the AEG arena. A Garand AEG, Carbine and Grease gun would be awesome. Eventually a BAR!!!!!

Wheaton, Lisle, hummmmmmm......... Me thinks I gots an idea here. An Idea that consist of an entire weekend of some serious airsofting.
Behind my house I have about 10-12 acres of nice thick/open forest with a creek that runs right down the middle of it with places about 4-5 feet deep, a very long trench if you will the terrain varies in depth ad height and there are so many places to hide, its great. And I have a 2 acres open yard next to my house and the creek runs along the side of my yard, on and on that side is another 2 acres of woods, A great place for airsofting.
I have some friends that live in Chicago by Brookfield that I had been talking to about airsofting, plus my friend Aaron, but there into modern Military.

That's fantastic! At the moment we are at the mercy of the airsoft/paintball fields, and actually, we had an event scheduled for today, but not enough people showed up, and of course it was raining all day so we would have needed a reschedule any ways. Do you have direct access to this land? I think I speak on all our behalfs in the chicagoland area when I say that we need a field.

That sounds really cool even if it is just a modern game. I can't do anything the weekend of May 6th (prom) and the friday and Satuday of the weekend after that is tied up. Sunday that weekend might work.

Spitfire740- The land is technically not mine thus games being played there on a regular basis would not be an option. But playing there just for fun with occasional large groups of people might be fine. But I do have a friend that has a huge pice of Farm property about double of what I have behind my house, plus it apperantly has an area with tall grass, like an open plain. Im shure he would have no problem with us useing it, infact I could call him up tommarrow and talk to him about that. Phantom12321- My prom is that weekend too (going with a college chick ), if there were to be some sort of airsoft game I was thinking maby around the 13th that weekend is compleatly open for me, And it would give me time to get some more people together. Okay so I talked to my friend Ryan who owns the Farm property and he said that he would have no problem at all you guys using his property as an all year round field for when ever you wanted to use it.
His only request was that it it is used that every one sign a liability paper saying that it you are hurt on his property he is not responsible for the injury.
Let me know what everyone thinks.

That sounds fantastic. I know I would try to get down there, if I could manage it. For a multiple day event on 20-24 acres of land, hells yes!

I might be hard pressed to do anything that weekend but I'll see what I can do. The day to do it for me would be Sunday. I'd be more than willing to sign the waiver as long as he never used the farm for the following (nuclear waste dump, test mine field, Ancient Indian burial grounds, bear trap ranch) Otherwise I'm cool

Okay so last night I was talking to Ryan some more and I got around to asking him how big the proporty is(it somehow slipped our previous conversation). Now from what he had been telling me and I heard from his friends that have gone out there to play airsoft this place was fairly large. But when I asked him the exact size of the proporty I got some dissapointing news, It is not the 10-20 acres he has lead me to belive it was but only about 4-5. Still playable but kinda a drag. Now knowing this I hope to actually go to his proporty this weekend on sunday to scope it out and tell you guys how it is and not rellieing on him so much for info. TommyGunner

hey man, don't worry about it. 4-5 acres is plenty big. 20 acres would be a bit too big any ways.

we might get lost and eaten by animals. lol.
Anyway. I'm good for anyday after Sat the 13th. anytime after that I'm free.
In the future, I have a large area of forest preserve we can play in too. It has lots of high grasses to hide in. The only problem is that you can hear anyone coming from like 100 feet away so ambushing can be really interesting.

we might get lost and eaten by animals. lol. Yea your right about the animals, we have giant rabid golfing squirrels here in Yorkville and they are a HUGE problem. 10 people hage been killed in the last two months, most of them were airsofting scary huh? lol Back on topic though. I was thinking about this game and I think it would actually be a better experiance if we played in the woods behind my house, its more like the Arden, but without the snow. Oh and dont worry about any squirrles getting us I contracted the best anti squirrel hunter His name is fluffy destroyer of Squirrels TommyGunner
