Does anyone know anything about Smokey's M1 Garand? Is it blowback? Can it take green gas? Does it have an ejecting clip in addition to its fixed mag? I've looked all over and I can't seem to find more than a few pictures of it. Any info about this gun would be much appreciated. Thanks.

not even sure if its being made at this point....smokeys was making them in very limited runs about 3 years ago....it didn't have an ejecting clip and worked off a TM shotgun round.given that it's made for the japanese market,i'd say no on the green gas.it was a very limited and expensive item...i was hoping at the time that it would spark more interest in WW2 airsoft but as soon as it was produced they disappeared into private airsoft collections iin the orient.in fact, i can't think of one that even made it stateside...much like the one JAC BAR that is floating around somewhere here in the US.

Wow, thats crazy. I saw one on tokyo model and it looked like it had its own mag. But for 1300 dollars.......I dont think so. I could get a JAC thompson for that money. Thanks for the info man, I appreciate it.

The reports on the gun was that it was a very nice replica in terms of looks and feel. It did not have the ejecting clip like the Marushin and it's reliability sucked horribly. Lots of problems. It was hard shooter when it worked.
High cost was primarily due to limited production numbers as with all of our WW2 style weapons for the most part. As challenging as the Marushin Garand is for consistent reliable performance it's way way better then the much more expensive Smokeys replica.

I contacted Smokey to buy one 2 years ago about it, and it never made it to production because they had copyright issues. It seems the reason why no one have one

Certainly Garand would not be generating copyright issues so it must have been the Springfield markings. I wonder how Marushin gets around that? When I got mine in, neither had the logo taped over although the box was alterred to cover the Springfield name.
My M-14s I've been buying for the conversions have had the tape covering the logo. (Easily removed)

I read on Arnies that the copyright issues may have been with another Japanese maker(Marushin ?)

Hmm, maybe we should lock this, unless someone who actually owns a smokey speaks up...

There continue to be questions about the Smokeys airsoft M1 Garand and if any recent news comes up I'm sure we'd all like to hear it. Nothing I heard on any forums had anything positive to say about it except it's looks and feel which were superb. I agree that to my knowldege none were sold in the US and very few were sold anywhere. The sad thing is the poor sales performance of this and the Marushin discourages other manufacturers from making a Garand and they fail to see it's the cost and the poor preformance that inhibits sales. An affordable AEG decently made rifle would do very well. I wish someone with the where withall to get that done would prusue it. Are you listening AGM? Hong Kong, Marui, Anyone?

I found one on Redwolf airsoft dot com and from the looks of it, there's no point. The clip doesn't fly out when empty, the gas is stored in the magazine, it does not blowback. All in all, if you really want a realistic M1 Garand, don't go with the Smokey's.

Kind of like there was no point in you posting on something this old without any real first hand knowledge that hasn't been already stated.

He didn't really add anything was the problem. If his post would have been along the lines of "I have one and was really disappointed with it" That would have been useful. Posting he saw one on redwolf airsoft and didn't like a number of things isn't really a useful addition to this thread. Thank you for your concern and I hope this answers your question.

Im wondering, isnt the fact that nothing pops out of the freakin gun when the mag is empty a positive thing?

Who knows maybe D Bois will ressurect this gun since it doesn't perform very well, didn't sell well and is after all a desireable WW2 model. If it was cheap enough it no doubt would sell. They'd probably really screw it up and make it a springer instead of an AEG.

I went out, did some research on it, and gave it to you, sorry that I didn't spend $1500 on it just to satisfy your curiosity. You're welcome for the information. You don't have to treat me like a jerk about it, either.

sgtlett. for future reference, instead of resserecting a thread that's been dead for over a month to bring back an issue thats fairly irrelevant to the original subject, just PM CharleyNovember instead. If your post doesn't need to be posted on the forum, then simply restrain from posting it. If I may.... Unless of course anyone has some information that is relevant to the original subject and contributes to the thread.

I was lucky enough to handle one of these in an airsoft and model gun shop a couple years back. It was very nice...on line with Hudson's model-gun M1 Garand as far as looks and appearance go. I will not deny that I wished it was in my possession as I was in the store and on my home, however for the very expensive price it is not worth it, better off with Marushin's M1 or perhaps a custom AEG M1.

Hi, I’m from Italy. I know this topic is old but I would like to leave something that could be helpful for others. I have recently got a Smokey’s Garand (intact, never fired and I don’t think I’ll fire it since it is a collection masterpiece). No parts wobble, very solid, the wood is beautiful and it’s not like in the promotion pics (it is just a little darker which makes it beautiful in my opinion). I hurt my self because of the bolt, it goes forward really hard (garand thumb XD). It is possibile to use real clips that can fly off like the real thing. I can’t say if it is blowback or not because the instruction manual (still in the original transparent plastic cover) is in Japanese and just a bit of English. Many parts are made out of steel (just some is aluminium). I managed to buy this from a collector here and I also have the original outer box by Smokey’s. If you want to ask some specific question, I’ll be glad to answer.
Again, I’m sorry if I shouldn’t have posted in this thread because it is old...etc, I just wanted to make it complete.

I am delighted to see an update on what has been an almost mythical items (for at least me) for over a dozen years. If you could post pictures of the gun, the box and the owners manually perhaps some one on here could help with the translation and we'd all get a little additional clarity.

Hi again, sorry for all this time but I didn’t receive any notification and I apologize for that. Yes, I would really like to post pictures! Just understanding how because maybe from the phone is different than from PC? If it is so, I will use PC. I’m glad you’d like to help me, very kind. I also ordered some Garand clips to try them (the instructions manual says it is possible) and received today the bayonet (beautiful and fits perfectly!).

Ok, so: I created a Drive folder with everything inside. Here’s the link: drive.google.com/drive/folders/1-Or9e5PvcaWTk9o7VOmYKmcJesGCQtrnIf you want something specifically (a pic, a video or an explanation...), just ask me😉. One thing I can say is that I really think it couldn’t be blowback in any way because the parts are reproduced are as similar as possible to the real thing and springs are very very strong (I almost got my thumb closed in the bolt ahaha). It would need an entire gas tank to bring the bolt back🤣 but I think it’s better for the mechanism. It is not a single action replica, it has a very strong double action trigger: it is hard to press!!! This replica is a beauty and I think that if it wasn’t a collection piece, I would have used it in game because with a double action system and a magazine like that, it is a formidable and very clever replica: you will get a semi-auto system, with no gas over usage and a magazine which has the size of a real clip charged with bullets (everything with beautiful exteriors) As I said, just ask me what you need, I would be very delighted to make this thread as complete as possible giving all the informations you need.

That is so cool! As previously mentioned, almost none of us here have seen one. It really does look nice! Interesting to hear about the clip, and it's very cool that you have it w/ the box and in unused condition! I've seen one here in the US on Ebay a year or two ago, extremely expensive, but a hell of a collector's piece.
