Ok folks, first of all I want to give a big thanks to all those involved on the wonderful tutorials about how to tighten down the barrel and how to make a filler for the auto-store 134a cans. You've helped me get off my butt and fix up my garand so that it actually does something besides gather dust.
That being said, I fixed up the gas charger, lubed everything up, and now have an awesome working rifle. But the front end was extremely loose, so last night I took to tightening it down. After some time of trial and error, trying to figure out what tightens what and how, I managed to get everything steady enough that the sight post doesn't move around when you hold the rifle.
My problem is this: After I got everything put together, I looked through the barrel to see if there was any distortion or blockage. I'm not positive, but it almost looks as though somewhere during all the adjusting, I twisted the inner barrel around. Having experience with AEG's, it looks as though the notch in the barrel for the hop-up is out of place, somewhere around the 4 O'clock position if you were looking down the sights. When I test fired, the bb's seemed to verify that as well. I don't have much room to test fire, only about 20 feet or so, but the bb's appear hit well right of my sights, and have an almost flat, if not downward flight path. Is there any way I can fix this?
I'm kind of thinking if I loosened the screws on the large brass ring, and could safely get something inside the outer barrel to turn the inner one, I should be able to spin it upright again. I'll tinker the best I can, but if anyone's got any ideas, I'm all ears.
Thanks for any help you can give me.
