This weekend we played around on an M274 Mule with a huge 106mm recoilless rifle on it in our 'Nam gear. Check it out. We had Gordak's PRC77 tuned to a radio station which provided us with some cool sound over the radio. Enjoy, Jack~

Hac Bao (third annual Vietnam reenactment game put on by Lion Claws) is now set for 21-23 July in California in the mountains near Hisperia. $80.00 per player. They'll have lots of period vehicles and great impressions. I will head the NVA as the evil Col. Nihm Ba Tri. and Kenn Miller Author of SIX SILENT MEN and survivor of 80 + LRRP missions will head the combined aggressor force VC and NVA. Col. Longrear of the Night of the Silver Stars survivor of the SF camp over run by NVA tanks outside Khe San will head the US Forces.
Space is limited to 160 players and they always sell out quickly. The area is very cool and will be a portion of the area used for the huge Lion Claws game from a few weeks ago.

Some of the terrain where we'll hold our Vietnam themed event. The forest are lush, moss covered with lots of ferns and wooded trails. The marshy area has lots of channels and cat tail swamps

Here are some of the LRRPs from california coming up to our NW event. There are six of them coming up as a seperate patrol (one of five patrols enrolled in the course from all over the US) They look good enough to give me goosebumps!

looks great Helmutt. Love the attention to detail and generally accurate look of the time. Obviously left handed with the compass/ 1st aid pouch placement which incidently would probably have been mounted upside down for easier access.
Here is a great site for replica grenades, smoke, incendiary devices and accessories for Nam Softing that helps finish off a look.

John, it looks like you guys had a blast. Wish I could have gone. That LRRP team is off the wall! Are you sure that's not a period photo of a LRRP team?lol. And thanks for that link, been looking for something like that for a while.

Actually the event is scheduled for the 18th to the 20th of this month. They went out to rehearse last weekend and to try on their impressions and take pictures. As for the photos themselves I thought the same thing it looked like an actual picture from the time. We're hoping that will be the case for the event photos we take. If half the people who show up look that good I'm going to be delighted. A couple more shots from their rehearsal. Can't wait for this event which I hope will become an annual training event.

We will have a couple of well known published authors who have both written about their experiences as LRRPs in Vietnam. One survived over 80 LRRP mission during his two tours the other barely survived his 34 missions. These are no applesauce honest to God full blown heros and it's going to be great to have them at the event to address the participants. I hope they enjoy coming and will be willing to come to future events. It is my hope to hold this RECONDO school living history event once a year.

What he tried to do was add an actual VN era front hand guard kit to a M4 along with a full stock. He'll no doubt complete the conversion but frankly doing it to a M16A2 or A1 would have made more sense. M16VNs are one of the less expensive AEGs and when available actually look and work pretty good. People complain about barrel wobble but I remember the actual gun as feeling pretty darn flimsy back in the day!

WGC have a Custom M16/a1 the cost like $350 and they have metal body, metal barrel ect. it's solid as hell, and i got a RS A1 hand guard. now it's great.
and $350 isn't bad for a "full" metal AEG.

I agree I put together a all metal period correct upgraded M-16 VN using G&G components for a reasonably affordable price. It doesn't have the charging handle so represents an early M16 and as mentioned above is solid as a rock.

...actually, being from southern Louisiana, the only Vietnam War reenacting we have out here is annually, in June, around the Mississippi area. The majority of the Comm. forces is the VIETCONG. I'd like to bring forth the stronger opposition to the battlefield: The NVA. Needless to say, I do in fact, enjoy changin' things up a bit. I also do the VIETCONG as well.

No one does and airsoft SKS that I know of as yet. It'd be nice though wouldn't it?
Your NVA looks good as an early war NVA pre 1966. The uniforms then were still a light tan. After that they went to a darker OD/ UPS brown. Granted by the time they made it down into SVN they were quite faded. Shades on soldiers even in the same unit were widely varied but darker then what you have on. Your booties are excellent (look real!) and depict the kind of shade you'd typically see. A better scarf then the VC combat scarf would be a strip of camouflage U.S. WW2 silk parachute which was commonly issued to elite NVA troops (sapper units and the like) The NVA captured large numbers of US issued parachutes at Dien Bien Phu which they cut into capes and scarves.
Sasha you have a great selection of widely diverse impressions. We'd love to get you up here to the NW for some of our events. We have a student coming up from Louisiana for the RECONDO school. The club down there is a pretty active team and attends a lot of big national events. They mostly do modern Spec Ops but are quite good at their craft.

The head of Blackcompany Mercy is coming to the RECONDO school. She mentioned that she had attended a WW2 game in GA which was probably one of your events Dan. They are an excellent group. A decent NVA/ VC costume should be fairly reasonable. The NVA pith helmets can be found for arounf $12.00 if you shop around. A real NVA shirt and pants in a human size can be bought on Ebay for $50.00 or so. A chest rig is $15.00 and a NVA canteen is around $15.00 the camo scraf is anoth $30.00 and French booties which look pretty good are another $20.00 and finally an actual NVA ruck is around $25.00. Hence the whole shooting match is under $200.00. Add a CYMA 028 AK-47 AEG for $125.00 and you're there. VC black pajama set up and combat scarf with coolie hat would probably be a little less.

Those are some good staged photos..and kinda funny. Funny in that you know it is not real so just the faces they are making and stuff cracks me up. I like the ones especially with the RTO holding the one guys leg where you added a little blood and he is screaming into the radio. Looks real good.
