I need some counseling. Before I blow my cash on some US Shoes, I need to know how my Extra-wide feet will fare. I know I can cram my fit in those types of shoes, done it before, but frankly, thy start to blister and bleed. Not good.
So to buy boots and bleed, or luck out. I have searched for a year, and nothing. Absolutely nothing. And I am not willing to shell out a few hundred bucks just for some custom crap.

We used to take brand new corcoran boots and throw them in water over night prior to putting them on and wearing them on an initial good long hike. This apprently caused them to conform to our feet and fit like custom shoes. I can't remember if it was cold water or hot water and it seemed crazy but it worked. I'll try to get specific details. Those who didn't had horrible blisters. I'm guessing that if you got some shoes that came close to your width and followed the right procedure they'd conform to your wide feet.

Yeah. I can usually get normal shoes to conform, but with dangerous repercussions. Just gimmie some specifics, and I'll try it.

Don't worry Polak. I've had the same problem. That's why I've held off on buying shoes for so long. So 2nd please post the instructions so we both can learn from your infinite wisdom.

Ok guys if you have the Band of Brothers set go to the special features disk and watch Ron Livingstons movie documentary on the series. He goes throught how to fit your boots. I can't remember if he soaked him in cold or hot water. Anyway he put them on soaked for a long time and then slept in them I'll get back to you on how long and weather the water is cold or hot.

Ok heres what you do.
1. Put on the boots 2. Soak them in a tub of hot water maybe an hour or two before bed. 3. Walk around in the and what not to start breaking them in. 4. Wear them to bed. The next morning you should have yourslef a pair of nice custom fit boots.

I don't remember sleeping all night in them! I do remember leaving them in hot water while they were on and walking around in them. Let's hope the width is not so narrow that you'll be unable to sleep as you stretch them out!

Hi Polak, Ben here. A couple of years ago, I had the same problem. My first event was spent in total Hell, because my German boots did not fit worth a applesauce , and my feet began to blister, and even bled in two areas. All this happened in less than 6 hours. If you want em' to fit like a glove, and be comfortable, just do what I did..........................as did many others for that matter. First, fill up your bathtub with water; warm/cold, it doesn't matter; put on a pair of thick socks; put your boots on; make sure that the tub is at least 1 foot deep; step into the tub, and totally submerge your feet; make sure your boots are flooded with water. Hell, go ahead and take a shower while you're at it. Sure, you'll look silly, standing buck naked in the shower with militarty boots on, but in the end, you'll understand why. Now, here comes the hard part. Convince yourself that you need to leave em' on for the duration of the day. That's right! Don't take them off! It's very important that you leave em' on! Walk around in them.............ALL DAY LONG!!! This will make sure that every aspect of the boot is contured to your feet. If you start to blister, go ahead and take them off, but this should not happen unless you decide to immediatly run cross-country or something. And oh yeah, don't worry about getting the house wet; the moisture will stay inside the boot. Do this, and trust me dude; everything will be peachy.--Ben
