Abredeen Proving grounds museum of ORDNANCE I was just there. Obviously unless you're dressed properly and have connections they don't let you crawl around on the vehicles. I sure wish they'd get them painted nicely for the dsiplay.

I be honest folks, I love stug IIIs! If i were offered both Id take the stug! Yeah you are NOT allowed to climb on them, THat is photshlop in action there. ... But... If you are going to climb, wait till you are done with the museum, then climb, so if you get kicked out, you dont miss anything -Gordak

ANd the Panther is like a Mercedes.

I have a picture of me from 35 years ago at the PATTON museum sitting on a Stg III. They are alot smaller then I had imagined. I haven't been to the museum since but I am a supporter. I am going to go the day before Operation Irene which will be held at the Stusseman CQB training facility at the end of Sept.

I'm talking about the official museum of Armor and Calvalry at Ft Knox. Patton had a huge number of german vehicles and equipment sent to Ft Know where they served as the basis for a very impressive collection (most of which aren't available to the public) They put on a great reeanacting event (every 4th of July) with the vehicles.
I know there is also a Patton Museum in California near Ft Irwin (the desert training center) I've driven by that one but never been in. How is it by the way?

It is very neat with lots of items inside including the 31st(?) thompson ever created and a BAR. It also has remains of the church, no walls or ceilings, but a bit of the flooring and such. Stop on in sometime, it's a very neat place.
