Not to be a biatch but we get together wearing full ww2 soldier uniforms but the games go too quick. People think in their heads during a game "their just pellets, just a sting." Thats why they go quick. See back then they didnt think "Just a sting" they were worried about losing their lives. Im not yellin at anyone, just saying if everyone started thinking during the games that this was real and they were going to be killed they would play with more seriousness. And if Germans spoke german (which they try, I understand) and the allies spoke in period language, people can set the mindset easily. Just thought I get this off my chest Danke all!!!

good point. Also, I think the guys in Norway introduced a very realistic and interesting idea with the allies starting already in the battle, but blindfolded. This way we won't repeat another situation where the allies, when going into the forest, trigger the minefield before the game even starts... Plus they were briefed seperately, so each side didn't know the other team's strategy.

Schutze It's not necessarily that they don't care about dieing, it's just that airsoft is still much different from real combat. Part of the reason people get hit more often, is that there are more projectiles flying than there are with real weapons, the ROF is higher, the mags are bigger. I've never seen a 450 round real steal Thompson mag, have you? When real cap restrictions start to come into play it will all be more realistic, people won't just hose down places that might hide the enemy, we'll have to only shoot at what we can really see. machine guns will play a dominant role on the battle Field instead of accomplishing almost the exact same thing as a schmo with a Thompson and a few high caps. Part of the reason the games go so fast, at least IMHO, is that there aren't as many people as there are in a real battle. Until he get a few Divisions of people, yes, the games will go rather fast. But once it gains following and it's maybe 30 on 30, they'll last MUCH longer. That's just my .2 cents Jack~

I agree with Nimlas, Its the high cap mags that are makeing your games fast. If everyone had the correct load out carry the usual amount of ammo the class would carry games would last a lot longer. Also the bigger WWII airsoft gets the long games will last.

Thats true, I bought 5 60rnd mags for my Thompson because its the closest I could get to reall mag and I would be forced to change out mags in the heat of combat and watch my ammo, then I have my 420rnd mag for playing around with friends where mags capacity does not count and also as a backup for when Im out of ammo in a reall WW2 game, but even when my other mags run out I try to use my colt.45 instead of the 420rnd one.

I have a thought. What if everyone literally loaded them self up with however much real weight their ammo load would be. These yo yos with their hi caps and 5,000 round bottles would suddenly discover a little reality check in their mil sim experience. The games would play better and the realism would go up dramatically. There would still be unaimed fire, recon by fire and suppressive fire but it would be a concious choice with costs associated with it.

I like that idea a lot, gives people the feel of being weighed down.

6mm round balls are not really as accurate as real bullets. However we have played limited ammo rules before and I like it though not everyone did. We used 250 rounds per rifleman per mission 1k rounds for MG's we only allowed 1 MG per side everyone else was rifleman. I had fun.

I personally think its explosions and what not that you here out in the distance. Maybe a prerecorded CD on a large boombox would add somewhat of effects. And for night effects you can have a strobe light in the distance acting as artillery fire. Stuff like that can bring the battlefield to life so people can set the mood better.

They always have lots of Hollywood effects at the battlesim events and wil have significantly more at the RECONDO school which is limited to real cap and low magazines. I agree with Dan that 6mm certainly don't have the brush penetration and accuracy of real steel bullets (Thank God!) so I'm okay with double the mag capacity between reloads that seems to accomlish the effect without over doing the limitations for the sake of realism.
With mag and ammo limits you'll find your game has far more teamwork and aggressive movement with less stalemates and bottlenecks caused by a single guy with a box mag playing rambo paintsoft and ruining the whole mil sim experience for others.

They should try doing the board trick.
you take a board about two feet long and dig a holeabout five or six inches deep, and you set the board so that it just hangs over the edge (about six inches), now you take the dirt and set it on the end of the board thats on the ground and when you step on the board it looks like an explosion.(sorta) It's kinda cheesey but it works.
