There were several FJ and Heer units that each faught long campaigns from overlord onwards. I think Heer would be the best type of unit to start, it's far less expensive to cover the entire war with heer impressions than with FJ. Also, Heer seems unrepresented in german airsoft/reenacting compared to FJ and SS.
Your absolute best bet is to do some thurough research and pick a unit based upon that.
Please use the spell-check function. If you are a poor speller than it's your best friend.

I was gonna say if you cant spell it dont do it. Midwest has many germand units the 3rd Pzg div (ost front), the 17 SS Pzr. Grndr. Div. Reg 37. (western front). Pick your unit it comes with the responsibility of being a unit leader. Do you get up in the morning get in the car, and start driving without having an idea of where your going? Its not a good idea...and thats what it seems your doing here. Dont make a post in the Unit recruitment section unless you are advertising a existing unit.

If you go for a generic Heer line infantry regiment then you neednt have anything to distinguish yourself as any particular unit then you can fight anyone.
Of course not a lot of folk do this as its not cool.
The 84th Infantry div got pretty badly mauled from Normandy onwards and i believe fought the 82nd late war during Varsity

Do the Herman Goering (1st) Panzer Division! They fought in Sicily and I think Italy. They also fought in Normandy, and we can kick your a$$es at Groesbeck!
NOTE: That's from wikipedia, and you know how much they're right...

21st Panzer Division was a Panzer Division, not Panzergrenadier Division, there are some differences.
It did have Panzergrenadier Regiments (with half-track and motorized battalions), but it also had Panzer Regiments with, surprise surprise, tanks.
It fought in Africa until early 1943 when the allies recaptured North Africa and suffered a number of losses including a lot of the Division staff (oh no the 200th Mapping Detachment!), artillery, tanks, and flak.
It was reformed on July 15, 1943 in France and it was given a lot of self-propelled artillery and French medium tanks.
Also, in regards to pioneers, in France the 21st had the 220th Panzer Pioneer Battalion that had motorized pioneer companies with a nice complement of panzerschrecks.

Can you post where the 82nd Airborne was in different months in 1944-45?
I can probably tell you some units that were in the same region.

The 84th Infantry div got pretty badly mauled from Normandy onwards and i believe fought the 82nd late war during Varsity I tend to agree with Gadge here. There is an over-representation of elite units in re-enacting. Not that there's anything wrong with that (especially since some of them have some pretty cool kit). Plus on the German side that would mean being Heer and not SS, which allows you to avoid some potential recruiting issues as people (myself included) may be uncomfortable in wearing SS runes. Although one thing to remember is that even the most liberal Heer reenactor still has at least two swastikas on his uniform (but somebody has to be the bad guy right?). In reading your posts about trying to put together this Ohio group, my suggestion would be to pick a unit that saw action throughout the war, rather than one that fought against a specific allied unit. If your group does indeed grow and prosper, you may find yourself participating in events that occurred outside of the 1944 France timeline.

Either would be good.
Depends if you want to be motorized or not, but both saw action in France and if you intend to fight Americans, would work well.
I don't know about 84th, but 21st saw action in North Africa in the early war. I don't know if you're big into DAK, but that kind of prevents you from fighting Soviets.

After being totally reformed in early 1945 (with two prior reformations following its destruction in the Falaise Pocket).
Big whoop.
It didn't have grenadiers so unless you plan on getting a Panther tank you won't be fighting on the Eastern Front.

Just do a generic heer impression! You can be a different unit every day then. The only distinguishing thing is some regiments wore numbers on their shoulder straps, these were often rmeoved or inverted for opsec so it doesnt matter if you dont have them. Right look at this: # We could be from *any* heer unit (if you excuse evos GD cufftitle)
