The DBoyi Kar 98 obviously has it's limitations but actually shoots reasonably hard and thanks to DB Custom barrels can be made significantly more effective without a major overhaul. It turns out the gun has a two part barrel and neither is especially high quality or very long. DB has created a barrel kit for the gun which Battlesim handles and installs for under $100.00. They had one at Jump to Destiny (Ranger Warrens Rifle) and it was awesome Ribbon straight and a good deal harder shooting than the stock Kar 98s which shoot at around 340 FPS. (assuming a good seal on your shells)
The upgrades can be pre-installed on guns they retail (They usually have some Kar 98s in stock) or added to an existing gun. In my opinion it draws the inexpensive replica into the realm of viable for skirmishing. It still won't have you dominating at your local skirmish but at a historical event like Jump to Destiny or the WW2 airsoft events you can hold your own and be authentic while doing so for not a lot of money.
The increased power and accuracy makes them a lot more enjoyable as a plinker.

Thanks that's pretty cool, now all I have to do is find a US retailer that has the wood version
