I have just purchased a beautiful Oberndorf KAR 98K, and wondering where to purchase 7.92mm blanks for it. I have plenty of 7.92mm ball, but can't seem to find any place in the U.S. that sells blanks.

Swansons. www.joeswansonsmotionpictureblanks.com/ His blanks are the best. They feed real well and are louder than most others. He makes blanks for movies, so they got to be good...right? Swanson is what my unit uses for Kar98 and the 8mm MGs we have.

I would also suggest Atlantic Wall Blanks: www.atlanticwallblanks.com/Considering they're located in Ohio, the shipping may be cheaper to you in Kansas, than Swanson's from California. Also Swanson's prices have steadily been increasing. Since I started reenacting a couple years ago, .30-06 has gone up, I think, around $10. Swansons does a lot of work for the movies, and hence if there is a big movie coming up you can also expect delays in your order if you don't get them ahead of time. The last order I got also had several rounds with fairly bad corrosion on the brass. I haven't heard any other cases of this, but hopefully, with all the contracts he's got out with Hollywood the quality does not continue to decrease.

I used the Atlantic wall blanks at the last event. Worked flawlessly and they shipped the same day I ordered.

I wasn't using the green tips. Frankly, the blanks were loud enough for my tastes. When you get to be my age, being around gunfire without ear protection is not a wise move. I've been shooting for over 35 years and thought ear protection was for pussy's when I was a teenager. You youngsters will really wish you had protected your hearing better when you get to your 40's. ;D
