Contemplating throwing together a tank destroyer impression and figured I would get others opinions first and if there are others here that have done this already. I tried searching for this topic already and under all the titles I could think of, I have come up with nothing. So, my appologies if this has already been discussed.
My kit idea (keep in mind this would be late '44 - end of war):
- M44 Heer tunic. (short 2 pocket version) with trapazoid breast insignia - Splinter B camo trousers - M43 feldmütze - boots with gaiters - Y- straps - Sturmgewehr Magazine pouches in olive - Gott mit uns belt and buckle
and of course the usual bread bag, gas mask canister, canteen, and mess kit.

Are you going to be getting an STG to go with the pouches? If not, don't waste your time and go with Kar pouches. An MP40 and matching pouches would be more practical if you want to actualy participate in a game. You'll also need to spend $150-200 for a fake panzerfaust that doesn't do a thing for you in a game.

Make your own with a PVC tube launcher and a nerf football.

OK, but how many tanks show up at an airsoft event? Kinda pointless to base your first impresion around something that doesn't let you get very involved in the action. The time and money wasted on the panzerfaust could be better spent. Specialty impressions are fine if you already have the basics covered.

Yes, I will actually be getting an StG also. It won't really be my first impression.....well sort of. I plan on buying multiple tunics so I could be anything I want. I don't really have to do a tank destroyer impression but maybe just something with the m44 tunic. Plus, I don't think I need to really lug around a panzerfaust just because I'm in a tank destroyer squad. Again, its just an impression. Not like there really needs to be a tank present.

Ive got an airsoft STG44. I bought one of the Shoei/Ultima guns last year. Great gun, but uber-expensive. AND, there are zero mags available for it besides the one hi-cap that it came with. That part really sucks. Pretty much all the Ultima guns are sold out, so be prepared to search far and wide to find an STG. On a plus side, even the guys that want nothing to do with WWII airsoft are impressed by seeing a sturmgewher on the field. ;D ;D Anyhow, this model gives you a good idea of the typical late war panzerknacker: www.hubhobbyshop.com/hint28.htm

Thanks Ripper! I would prefer to do a Heer impression instead of SS but very useful link though. I think the fact that nobody is doing this, make me want to do it more! I could make my own panzerfaust, or maybe cushman could vacuum mold one for me. Something about carrying that thing around on my back makes me dig that impression even more.
As far as the 44 goes....thinking about converting an AK or at the very least, converting some AK magazines to use. Hmmmm....my gears are really turning now!

Splinter B is for Luftwaffe troops and FJ. Splinter A would be the Heer pattern.
