Hi everyone, im new to this site/forums so i dont know you all yet, but i will eventually! i have a probably commonly asked question for all of you, im new to airsoft but im not a noob. ive been into airsofting for 2-3 years and i have 4 guns myself but, i want to start ww2 airsofting. I plan on making a German infantry impression, I know the main infantry weapon of ww2 for the axis side was the kar98k mauser... and the only spring one i heard of is the Dboys k98k, shell type. I want to know whats the best american site, because im in washington. and who sells the gun in its best quality. is the gun worth buying? how long does it last? do parts break easily, and which ones? overall is it a good buy? Thanks everyone, i appreciate a response!

It is a really bad gun that you will be disappointed in. If you can do a conversion yourself it is worth converting a VSR or VSR clone to skirmish with. I also make them but they are expensive. www.voodoomachineworks.com there are many threads here though on how to do the conversion yourself and also the UK WW2 site has some great info on that.

They work fine for the money which is kind of like saying "for a fat girl she doesn't sweat much." I've known people who successfully sktimish with them although the ejecting shells are a pain and the power is not what it should be for a bolt action rifle. They look quite good (especially the real wood ones) and Battlesim is definitely your best bet should you decide to get one. They also have a great technique for upgrading them to where their accuracy and power improves although modifications are not their core business.
Since you live in the NW and are interested in WW2 airsoft you should contact and visit them as they run the very best historical airsaoft events in the country and possibly the world. (No dig at all on other events)

That site,http://www.voodoomachineworks.com/replicas.htm, has amazing replicas. Saying im only 13, i think a 600 dollar gun is a bit much! If i had enough, and the personal rights to spend money freely, one of those replicas would be in my hand in a week! discluding the current economy. haha.

Well that is why I always suggest people try the conversion on their own. Perhaps if your dad is handy in the woodshop you guys could make a father/son project out of it.

Meh, what shop? haha, he is a computer person, he runs Holland americas websites and stuff. they do cruises and what not. and we live in more of a "city" area, so we dont have a garage/woodshop etc. just a house, a yard and a greenhouse full of lizards. =]

ah well then. The Dboys K98 is not a great skirmish rifle. There is a Tanaka K98 for sale right here on this board for 300.00 OBO. I would jump on that before a DBoys. Or I would get an AGM MP40. I hate to recommend that as there should be less autos on the field and more bolt actions and semi autos but there you have it. I have a DBoys I bought it broke and had it working in less than 30 minutes. It is an excellent replica but the shells are fiddley and the accuracy and power is abysmal without spending some change on replacing the inner barrel and hop unit. The shells are then still fidley and prone to being lost.

Thats adsactly why i dont want a mp40. i want to get dboys. post on my other thread the new one. But are the parts durable on the dboys? cuz i wanna k98. just dont wanna spend 200-400 dollars. i love tanakas, ive shot one before. and the real k98 (ouch..) but i want to get either the dboys or acm. post on my other thread about that!

You only need one topic for this. For the most part most Chinese guns are all made in the same few shops. the AGM and and DBoys will be the same maker. I haven't had anything break off of mine but I don't use it much. More of a wall hanger and something to cast parts from.

I think you are pretty much set on getting this gun no matter what so there is not much more point to it. You can wait and see if there are some other opinions but in the end I think you will get one.

The rifle is Very skirmishable, maybe not as effective against 10 guys armed with THompson high caps but if you are patient and stealthy it is great. I'll sell you mine, its the all wood version, stripped refinished, weathered, the bolt has been modded to increase FPS and will have about 30+ shells. You will need to buy a new magazine spring, as the one that came with was broke right out of the box. I used the spring and follower from my wartime Mauser, a wartime one will fit and is much stronger than the POS that came with it. I bought one on Ebay (spring and follower) for $4.99 and the guy screwed me with it, I never got it though he says he sent it! Oh well. They are not hard to come by and are relaively cheap. cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=200254005410&_trksid=p2761.l1259I have the box and directions. $150 shipped PM me if you are interested. gerry528, im new to this site and probably dont know if i should be posting now seeing as this threads a bit old, but here goes...
im looking to buy a spring, kar98k airsoft rifle (wooden stock), probably just for use in the back garden e.c.t....not proper airsofting.
im not looking to spend too much...probably up to £150...(or about $200 as im english). and id be looking to attach a scope as well.
what would you reccomend? the DBoys option?
Ohh, and is your kar98k still for sale?
cheers.

If you want a Kar98, its your best option for backyard plinking, however nothing more. If you want better accuracy, rage and power, and are looking for a real wood stock, go with the MP001 (real wood) on RSOV.com. You might also run into trouble mounting a scope on the Dboys, but with the MP001 you'll have no problem. The JG BAR-10 shoots better than the MP001, however it has a plastic stock (black). Hope this helps!

thankyou very much...and for the quick reply as well Ive pretty much cut down my options to 2. 1. Buy a DBoys KAR98 and this scope mount www.airsoftpost.com/real-steel-scope-mount-base-series-rifle-p-30108.htmlThis would replace the rear sights but im not really to bothered. However, i would need a scope to put on. I was considering the Tanaka KAR 98k scope www.airsoftextreme.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=480_98_496&products_id=545However im not sure whether it is compatible with the scope mount i just mentioned. 2. Buy a JG bar 10 and a DBoys98k and do a conversion. No idea how to convert them, but there must be a tutorial for a complete beginner somewhere. If i converted them, and ended up with a JG bar 10, inside a kar98k stock, would i have to buy scopes and mounts that fit the JG? Pretty much i have an attraction to the KAR 98, but I would only want it scoped. Seeing as i dont actually play airsoft and would just want it as a plinker, im looking to spend only about $250 for the whole thing...(scope gun and mount) advice would be VERY VERY VERY much appreciated:) cheers.

If your just doing backyard plinking a Dboys Kar98 is fine. As for the conversion if you want a great skirmishing gun its for you. Here's some advice I got on it from another board member. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- What did you do to fit the BAR10 internals into the Dboys K98 stock?
Hey, I heard that the BAR10 trigger won't fit inside the Dboy's Kar98 trigger guard. If so what did you do? Modify it to fit or use the BAR10 trigger guard?

i think i could purchase just the stock from here? shop.ehobbyasia.com/d-boys-real-wood-stock-for-kar-98k.htmlhowever, you see this bit on the KAR... the like end barrel part. This does not come with the wooden stock. Is that because its part of the DBoys barrel? and if it is, then does that mean i could not just buy the wooden stock, annd would have to buy a complete DBoys KAR 98k? cheers

You would need to buy all of the parts for the Kar98k from either a real steal one or from the Dboys. This conversion is harder than it seems however. I tried one myself but had to shelf it due to lack of funds and time. My advice for you would be to get the wood stock version Dboys. If you like it great, if not buy the Bar10 and convert the Dboys. This will save you money because either way you need the Dboys, but might not need the Bar10 if the Dboys is good enough.

i think ill just settle for the JG bar 10 as its a lot more powerful, cheaper overall with scope ect... but both are still ahrd to get hold of in the uk. The only way to get one would to get it 2 tone...and can you imagine a kar98k wooden stock 2 tone? not really.
thanks guys but it looks like ill settle for just the JG.
ohh and blitzz, are you in the US? and do you have anything left from your attempted conversion?
