Ok well I've looked through the other threads about making mosins and I really want to attempt it since we are going to start doing WW2 games in my area. Fist things first, what would you guys say is the best base gun to go with? I'm looking at the JG BAR-10's or the HFC USR-11. Should I be heading in a different direction or are these going to be an adequate base to start with and drop into a mosin 91\30 stock? Also, is ebay going to be my best bet for getting a stock with some hardware and is there anywhere that I can get the small bits and bobs such as the sights and things of that nature? Thanks for reading and I greatly appreciate any help you guys can offer me ~Ravage

The BAR 10 VSR Clone in my opinion is the best value and I have been very pleased with them. The TSD is also quite good. Avoid the MP001. Shotgun news and any of a number of other retailers would be cheaper and easier sources to acquire a Complete Mosin Nagant rifle or just the stock and hardware.
You will find the Mosin to have a very thin stock relative to the Springfield and Mauser hence it will be somewhat more challenging to hollow out for the insertion of the hop up housing and magazine but there is adequate room to do both.
Good luck and feel free to add your progress notes in the existing Mosin thread.

Thank you and I'm sure I will be back to ask many more questions since this will be my first time doing a project like this.

Another thing that helped me out wit the thinness. When you get the gun apart cut the extra metal off of the hopup metal piece. That got mine to sit perfect in the gun.
