hey guys, ive got a problem. my .30 cal uses a CYMA gearbox, hop-up, and barrel. when the gun was an M14 it shot pretty decently. i converted it to an M1, then took out all the internals to make a .30 cal. everything is alligned properly but when i shoot it, the bbs travel maybe 30 feet then drop. i have the hop-up turned up, and its almost like its not there. i was thinking maybe buying a TB barrel and getting some new gearbox parts and a new hop-up unit. but i thought i might ask you guys before i go spending a load of money.

you checked the compression right? Both within the gearbox (fire a shot with your finger over the nozzle, if the piston just slams forward, then there is a lack of seal, if it goes forward slowly, as your finger stops most of the air from escaping, then there isn't a problem. Oh, and make sure you do this with a low powered enough battery that you can shoot one shot at a time, or you risk stripping your piston), if that works, then see the compression of your gearbox to your hop up and barrel, stick your finger at the end of the barrel, and see if when you plug the barrel with your finger if most of the air impacts your finger, if just a little does, there is a leak somewhere, and you have to take it apart. That is the most common problem, and easiest way to test. Other than that, hopefully your barrel is straight (bent barrels give bad shots ), and you don't have a 150fps spring. Hope that helps

I agree that your issue is most likely a seal. I suspect when you took the gear box out and away from the M14 receiver group housing you aborted a seal. In the Cyma M14 a small spring holds the barrel flush to the hop up and unless there is slightforce back on it you'll lose power. The same thing happened to me when I built a BAR housing on a CYMA M14 set up. It took me forever to get it all figured out.
Incidently the barrel in the M14 CYMO 032 is actually quite good and in any event the outer barrel won't quite accomodate most of the tightbore barrels available unless you can find a way to drill the outer barrel out.

hmm, alright. thanks guys. i think what it is is the seal between the barrel and the gearbox. ill have to do some tinkering.
