So I'm just workin on some period German WWII rations I think they came out pretty good here is a few photos... Overall view(sorry for the crappy photos) The rectangular package in the center is hardbreads or Knackebrot. Canned Mystery meat (Ham, Turkey or Chicken during the war it could of been horsemeat! YUM) Sho-Ka-Kola, sliced canned fruit and Butter cookies. Single serve coffee and milk, this will make one canteen cup (12oz) of coffee, heat the water on your esbit cooker add the coffee and the milk. Packed up and ready to be shipped to the Italian front! I also made a good score in Wal-Mart on canned German Potato salad and ravioli, I will just be putting a laquer finish on the cans with no identifying label as it was originally done, the laquer was put on the cans to protect them from rust in harsh environments, the only identifyiny marks were a combination of numbers and letters stamped on them.

Wow Gerry, that looks great. It will really add to the setting. You aren't going to actually eat any of this stuff are you? Seems like a shame to wreck all the preparation. Now I have a hankering to go upstairs and make some cocoa. I wonder why?

Yes Mike, this is for US to use and eat, they will be in our camp, this is only a couple of hours worth of work and about $50, though they look period and will absolutely add to the setting and give some of the guys an Immersive experience of camp life in WWII, they are not at all 100% accurate. We all know that from '39-'42 the Wehrmacht depended mostly on fresh prepared foods like fresh bread, soups or stews and didn't really rely on prepacked foods like their American counterparts with the exception of the emergency Iron Ration.
I have some real top notch Luftwaffe Jump rations that I use when our unit does living history those I refuse to use!
Enjoy that cocoa! -Gerry

THAT is amazing. Gerry I can't believe all of the preparation that you're putting into developing the camp atmosphere. Very impressive work on the rations....
A sincere thanks from myself and the rest of the team for going the extra two miles!

And are the rations for US or German? I got confused because you said it was for US but you kept talking about German items. 245 rounds of high explosive dead tennis balls. Oh, it may not look intimidating, but any of the combat vet's from the bulge can tell you how much fuzzy death these puppies will bring.

Biged own's all the heavy stuff (m1919a4, M2, 60mm, 81mm, bazooka, and ammunition cart) but I don't know if he's coming. Last time he manned the m1919a4, the 81mm on a cart, and an m14/m1 conversion by himself.

I just posted for sale in the airsoft and impression thread a pair of army cots that U.S. players might want for their camping setup. Migano players have first dibs. If interested I could just bring them with me to the event.

Hope everyone had a safe and happy 4th of July. Oh and I will restate what Otto posted - any American players who want to have period cots for the camp should take a look at this thread. ww2aa.proboards45.com/index.cgi?board=Scenario&action=display&thread=4009

Ersatz jack, check your PM's on the WWII cots.
Great to know that everyone's favorite one man heavy weapons crew will be there!

I guess I could assist with the mortar, but something I'd have to talk to "biged" about.

AWESOME! YankeeDiv !!!
I get back less than 10% of rounds shot in wooded areas. I have at least 300 tennis balls in 3 different states that were brand new and have been shot once.
Yes, I am bringing everything. 60mm (display), 81mm on the cart, 4.2 inch mortar (completing this week), M1a1 bazooka, M2 .50 cal and my 1919a4.

I didn’t say anything then and I’m not saying anything now. I’m just saying… you never know what the Germans are doing behind the scenes. Beside... the allies know this is all propaganda anyhow…
