I'm talking to a guy who has the capability to possibly get M1928 conversion kits machined. How much interest is there out there now that the CAW kit is discontinued?

I'm not a big fan of M1928's myself (real ones jammed a lot with drum mags), so I probably wouldn't buy one. They do look kind of cool for being a gangster, so may I would purchase one. Maybe.

For a reasonable price, I'd jump on it.

I would be interested as long as the price is right.

Would it be a conversion kit for Military style thompsons to Gangster? Or based off some random gun?

might want to reactivate...I found another guy who says he could probably duplicate a CAW receiver, barrel, and MAYBE the Lyman sight. If not he says mounting a RS sight or using the wartime sight is fine. He says parkerization can probably be done in shop also.
Anyone willing to lend us a CAW M1928 receiver and barrel?

Instead of starting with a replica maybe start with real drawings. I know they are available on the market.

Real CAD drawings of the Mosquito Molds receiver? My only concern is that a real steel drawing won't make a receiver to mount properly to the M1A1 AEG lower. I asked him and he said having a real example to work of would be the best, whether it be by clay duplicate or CNC. Should I look into having the M1928 stock made also?

does anyone here know if they want their receivers parkerized?

You can use a real steel M1928 receiver to get the external measurements and then a M1A1 receiver to measure the inside. I think kalbs ment drawings for a real M1928 as the airsoft version is very close to the real steel counterpart and there is plenty of space for the gearbox inside the big square receiver. The stocks, vertical and horisontal grips for M1928 is quite common and not very expencive so I would only consentrate on the metal works if I where you. I have also noticed that the Marui M1A1 has a plastic lower receiver and this would be great to have made in steel. The selectors on the M1A1 are different that on the M1928 so this would be great to replicate too. Regarding parkerizing I would parkerize and also blued some kits as the civillian made for the police and gangsters would have been blued. I`m sure there are quite a lot of potensial buyers who would like to have a chicago typewriter

Definatley blue it., Most thompsons (even the ones made during the war) were blued.
Oh yeah, real wood kit for it (Stock, pistol grip, and at least the horizontal foregrip, although it would be cool to have both) would be awesome.

I will see about hardwood furniture. Not going to be cheap, sorry
How much are you guys looking to spend? I need to know if it makes economic sense to proceed. Don't worry, I won't even market it if it even looks like AZR's offering.

IDK, maybe 150, 200 for the metal. not sure about the wood.

If it`s made from machined steel and with all the correct details I bet you could easily charge 500 bucks for it, considering that the Mosquito Molds kits are out of production and they where made out of cast aluminum

500 is a bit extreme, I'm not an Ahole like that

Yes it is a lot, but then I would expect the kit to come with machined steel receiver, barrel, flashider and lower receiver. If you could replicate the sliding on and off stock mechanism that you find on real 1928s that would be incredible. You could also easily make 1921 and 1927 versions, the 1921 is the true chicago typewriter as this was made from 1921

I think the slide on/off stock is not practical. The gun's battery is stored in the stock so the only purpose it would serve is as a display gimmick

I think the slide on/off stock is not practical. The gun's battery is stored in the stock so the only purpose it would serve is as a display gimmick With the new Li-Po batteries you can store it in the receiver itself
