For any one caring to peruse the full series here is the photo album from the official photographer of the event. The guy is a true artist and really captured the event which was truly outstanding. www.gwagdesigns.com/jumptodestiny09It just keeps getting bigger every year.

I was just looking through the pictures and one thing jumped out at me. Why is no one wearing eye protection? Then another thing struck me. I see some people fielding guns without magazines. Is this event staged without ammunition?

A lot of those pictures are probably from the Saturday Training portion of the event. During that time eyewear is not required, but to make that safe you can't have a mag in your gun.

Garrick is correct. Most of the photos are from the training period when eye protection was not required because we were not actually shooting. That said, on Sunday a lot of people, especially the blank fire reenactors, would remove their eye protection when they were not in a combat area. Fogging was horrible, but that does not excuse it.

I heard the same report and obviously that is a big time issue that will have to be addressed for next years event.

It has been almost two months since this event and folks are already talking about next year. It has almost doubled in size each year since it started and I fully expect that will happen once again. That being the case, expect roughly 200 people at next years event. It attracts people from all over the US so start making your plans now if you intend to make the journey. The time frame is always late May or Early June and the location will once again be Western Washington.

hard to make hard plans until I have a firm date so I can book a flight but I am awaiting the time with much anticipation.

I have a question about jump to destiny, would a standard leg infantry impression be ok there? or is it just paratroopers?

The event is predominately AB, and we encourage it if at all possible. However, if a leg impression is all you have (which we totally understand $$$) we'll role you in as "Glider Troops". You'll have a seperate drop closer to dawn. You may not see them in the pictures, but we usually have a few guys who fall into this catagory so we try to accomodate.

The joke is that while the airborne troops have to jump from a simulated aircraft by jumping from a slow moving truck into the darkness the glider troops are shoved into an enclosed trailer along with Jeeps and heavy gear and we speed up and simply detach the trailer and let it roll to a stop against a tree or something.
(Not true)
Once the dates are announced sign up early for this event if you plan to attend as it grows each year significantly and will no doubt sell out quickly this year. I'm confident we will have a large compliment of US glider troops

I agree. It's always great to see a mix of impressions and I too like the regular leg impression of WW2 GIs.
