Moored about a kilometre from my house on the river. Spoke to the owners and they are going to let us use it for a 29th Div photo shoot!

I was walking the dogs down by the river where we live and it was just there!
So i popped into the marina store to ask if they knew who owned it and they said it was theirs, i asked if i could use it for some photshoots and they seemed happy with that... now if we get a ride in it i'll be *very* happy.

Thing is i'm not sure if its a real one (unlikely to be honest) or a rebuild for SPR. Its a bit grotty inside but I have been in a real one before and its pretty authentic inside if its a copy.
Anyone know where the serial number on the side links it to (beach, unit etc)

Ah it appears...
If Genuine ID, this is landing craft No. 25 from APA26 USS Samuel Chase, a WW2 troop ship. The ship was used in Algiers, and famously on Omaha beach on day 1, then Phillipines.

My grandfather had a coverted higgins boat as his first fishing boat back in the 50's.
Pretty cool to just walk down the street and see that!

Hey Gadge, does it still run? How bad is the inside and what is the condition of the bottom of the boat? If it has been in water for 60+ years lets hope the bottom isn't to rotted out!

That would be quite a shocker! Just walking along and WHAM, a higgins boat is just sitting there! That would be very cool to see!
