did U.S. infantry wear hbt pants with m43 shirts?

my understanding is that the HBT pants and jacket were for hotter climates and the m43 pants and jackets were for colder or colder climates.....could be wrong though. I would say probably not. it would be like wearing shorts and a winter jacket - it would be either too cold for the one, or too hot for the other.

Infantry troops in the ETO wore HBT's over their wool shirts and pants- it was considered the Field Battle Dress Uniform. Even when they quit wearing the wool pants under, they would still wear the HBT jacket over the wool shirt mostly.
