even blank reenactors like 'em from what I heard, you need a sole change as they are wayyy off from examples of originals I have handled, but yea they are good.

From what I've heard about the cost on re-soling. First you gotta buy to proper soles, that's about 25 bucks. Then you gotta find a guy to do it. Now depending on where you guy the prices change dramaticly. Some times it's as much as almost 75 bucks to get em resoled . After the costs it almost makes more sense to just buy repops. That's just my 2 cents. Jack

some guys just grind the lugs off......then, depending on what size you get, the buckle is the same piece of leather as the boot - which very different and very noticeable from US boots.
if its something you want to do while saving up for GI boots, go for it.....

The boots at Sportsmans Guide are MADE by the French. They were modeled after the WWII buckle top US boots. The US did not make them and give them to France.
Once you get them dirty they are acceptable. Something to use while you save up for a correct repro.

If you're doing infantry you can cut the buckle top off at the right spot and make some nice roughouts.
But like I said they have to be resoled to be correct

i have a buddy who bought one of those french boots and got them resoled... and the resoling costed him $75 (that was WITH discount because he personally knew the cobbler)
so eventually he spent more money buying Flaggrantly Wrong shoes and converting them, when he could have just bought a good pair of correct reproduction boots for cheaper price...
