Hi! I just joined this forum because through reading, you seem to be the type of net community for reenacting that I can identify with. I don't have any good airsoft stuff, don't know if I will, but I was hoping you might help me out with my WW2 impression. I got the M43 Uniform and DB boots, and have had a mussette bag for a while. Today I just got an M1 helmet and the gear suspenders. I am having trouble figuring out exactly how I'm supposed to attach the suspenders to the pistol belt and how to attach the bag too. Most pictures of impressions I see has so much gear that I cannot see where everything attaches. Could anyone give me detailed explanations as to where it attaches, or give me pictures of just the suspenders, mussette bag, and pistol belt? Thanks!

Attach the straps onto the top holes on your pistol belt in an X shape. Then there should be little rings on the back of your suspenders you attach the straps to your musette bag on.

The rings are actually on the front of the suspenders and the mussette straps go over your shoulders and hook to them.

My suspenders are missing the front rings. In fact, looking at them, they look a bit different than the straps ATF makes. The front straps that hook to the belt are sown on rather than hooked through a metal piece. I think I can get it rigged up to work, but I still don't think I'm getting the suspender hooks in the right places.

The image here is what mine looks like. www.sportsmansguide.com/cb/cb.asp?a=179413I didn't buy them from there, but at a local shop. Only paid $15, so even if they aren't 100% authentic, I don't think I got ripped off!

I'm pretty sure those are the M1944 suspenders used late in WWII and on into the Korean War. They came in two types: with and without the D rings on the front. I'm pretty sure they will work fine. For $15, you got a nice deal. If you arn't working on a late war impression (probably 1945 only), I would save up and get some nice M1936's eventually.

yes, fenrir is correct...they are the M44 suspenders....they are made to be used with the newer field pack system that came out a bit after the suspenders.i have 4 sets of them and they work well for me...as for attaching the musette,i'm not sure if you can run the straps from it though those buckles at the shoulder area like i do with the M45 field pack that i have.the suspenders attach by putting the hooks through the top set of holes in the webelt while being centered in back and ,i think, through the second and third holes back from each end of the belt...though i'm sure others can correct me if i'm wrong.you might have to move some of the straps around some of your pouches and equipment as you get it just like the guys in the field did..

I've been able to get the mussette bag to clip onto the buckles by shortening up the bag straps considerably. Now, from pictures I have seen, it appears that the "Y" straps on the front of the suspenders, one part attaches to the belt and the other to the bag? While the back straps clip to the belt. Is this correct?

If you are wanting to use the M44 suspenders in replacement of the M1936's, the y-straps just clips onto the top row of holes on your web belt. If you are trying to use the M44 field pack system, I can't help you there. Savoy might have some knowledge on how they work.

when wearing the suspenders with mussette bag, the front main straps hook up to the top of your garand or pistol belt while hte other front strap goes under your arms to connect to the rings at the bottom of the mussette bag to prevent it from flopping around.
thats one thing that I see at events all the time that really drives me crazy - mussettes that are hanging down to your butt!! how can it be even the least bit comfortable that way.....

Thanks 5thranger. That's what I was thinking, but I couldn't tell for certain from the pictures.
